Marquez: "My target was try to find the best way to win the race. Fabio was really fast in one part of the race. I caught up. I knew he was very fast in S3, S4. But anyway, it's been an amazing year. I want to say thanks to all the people around me and now I want to celebrate."
26/26: Marc Marquez is the 2019 MotoGP world champion and he does it in the best possible way! Imagine Marquez-Dovizioso last year, it's a repeat. Quartararo closes in through the switchback through turns 10 and 11. He out-brakes Marquez into the final turn, he's through. But the Honda is waiting for the cut-back. And he does it, driving under the Yamaha to win by 0.171s! Another brilliant race. And fitting for Marquez to win his 6th premier class title in this fashion.
25/26: This is as tense as it gets... A Quartararo-Marquez shoot out for the win. Needless to say Marquez will be winning the title today, unless something dramatic happens in the next 2 minutes, which is always possible.
23/26: Change of the lead - but it's brief! Marquez runs it around the outside of Quartararo but knew he'd be running wide... and he does. That was just a little warning for the Frenchman. Marquez is upping the pressure.
18/26: Marquez is playing the waiting game. He's right with his young challenger through T3, 4 and 5. Aleix Espargaro retires out of 10th, and he's in tears when the camera cuts to him in the garage.
14/26: Viñales is now 0.3s quicker than the leading guys. The gap is down to 2.7s. Let's keep an eye on that progress. The others are in a different race, with Dovizioso, Morbidelli, Rins, Mir, Rossi and Petrucci not getting a look in.
11/26: Another fastest lap by Quartararo. Less than 0.05s quicker than Marquez, though. His advantage is still just over 0.6s. Back in the pack, Rossi must have a problem because he's dropped behind Rins and Mir in the fight for 6th.
