Vinales can't beat his own previous best and stays in fifth place, meaning Petrucci does remain fastest with the best ever Sepang two-wheel lap while Ducati fills the top four places.

Chequered flag is out, Vinales only has this lap to complete, but his first sector is not the best...

But there's only one more minute of track time left...

Maverick Vinales is out and going fast... 1m 58.877s.

5mins to go and, despite his reservations, it's still Danilo Petrucci fastest from this morning's lap time...

Petrucci thinks the new soft compound tyre (which he did not try) is worth three tenths, which is why he expects someone to beat his top time. The Ducati rider used the standard soft tyre. But he's still fastest for now,  with 26mins to go.

Fastest man Danilo Petrucci is another to have finished testing, so the top three - Petrucci, Bagnaia and Miller - will not be back on track. Dovizioso (fourth) also expected to finish soon.

Will the Yamahas make a late charge for the top spot in their absence?

Jack Miller naturally wasn't happy to finish the day with a fall, but a 1m 5.3s is a very quick lap and he remains third in the timesheets, behind Andrea Dovizioso and rookie team-mate Francesco Bagnaia.

Miller also tried the new Ducati fairing, said it needs a little work on top speed, but did not try the rear brake torque bar that is at the factory today. Hopes to try it again in Qatar, after using at Jerez in November.

Just under one hour and a half of testing to go and around half of the riders are on track, but further really fast times are unlikely until the final hour when the track cools down.

The new Michelin technology was introduced for some compounds last year and gives a wider operating window for tyre temperature.

Ducati also confirmed that Petrucci's earlier fall was at turn 5 and that he is okay.

Just had a chat with Ducati, they expect the other riders to attack their top-four sweep at the end of the day... But are not sure if their riders will go for another time attack at this stage.

KTM test rider Mika Kallio, who is still struggling for flexibility in the knee he injured last July at Sachsenring, is the only rider on track.

Meanwhile, it looks like Marquez has again wrapped up testing early today to minimise the strain on his healing shoulder.

The reigning world champion is currently 11th fastest (+0.931s) after 39 Friday laps.

He is due to make a PR appearance in Indonesia straight after this test.

It looks like Petrucci fell while trying the new Ducati fairing...
