The British MotoGP has been delayed due to heavy rain hitting Silverstone despite the revised race schedule produced in the hope of avoiding the worst of the weather.

Following a hastily revised race schedule confirmed on Saturday night, MotoGP’s start time was moved to 11:30 – 90 minutes earlier than originally planned – with weather forecasts showing heavy rain set to hit the British circuit.

Despite running warm-up in dry conditions, while Moto2 and Moto3 warm-up session were run as the rain arrived, the MotoGP riders completed sighting laps on their way to the grid to test conditions.

Alvaro Bautista was forced off track and rode through the gravel during his sighting lap, believed to be caused by the standing water, with a meeting of MotoGP team managers and race organisers on the grid confirming the start would be delayed.

All riders have made their way off the grid with the MotoGP safety car completing laps to test conditions.
