The Kawasaki Racing Team's preparations for the upcoming MotoGP season suffered a setback on Monday, when the team's race transporter was involved in a road traffic accident while travelling from last weekend's Barcelona test to this weekend's final pre-season outing at Jerez.

Today, Thursday February 16, marks the 27th birthday of five times MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi. The current Camel Yamaha superstar made his world championship debut in the 1996 Malaysian 125GP and went on to win his first world title with 11 wins in his second 125cc season.

MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi is tipping 2005 runner-up Marco Melandri, class rookie Dani Pedrosa and Ducati Marlboro riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau as the main challengers for his crown this season.

Melandri OK but `bike a mess`.
2005 MotoGP runner-up Marco Melandri, the fastest rider on day one at Sepang, was left just 11th on the day two lap times after suffering a mysterious high speed accident at the Malaysian circuit.

Okada returns as HRC test rider.
Tadayuki Okada, Japan's most successful premier-class grand prix rider, returned to the saddle at Sepang today in his new role as HRC test rider.
