British youngster Ticktum gets two-year ban

British youngster Daniel Ticktum has been struck with a two-year racing ban by the Motor Sports Association for seriously dangerous driving at Silverstone.

The 16-year-old was competing in the MSA Formula championship at Silverstone and in race three of the event overtook 10 rivals during a safety car period to catch and crash into fellow competitor Ricky Collard.

Ticktum has been banned from receiving a UK or international competition licence until he completes his punishment, the second year of which is suspended for 12 months.

At the event, championship organisers excluded Ticktum and handed him 12 penalty points along with an automatic three-month ban, having already received six penalty points for an offence at Croft earlier in the season.

His two-year ban is effective from the 27th September 2015.

Ticktum joined Fortec Motosport in February for his rookie year in the FIA-certified MSA Formula championship series, which runs as a support class to the British Touring Car Championship.
