Gorman, Litchfield share KF2 spoils at PFI.

Dennis Gorman and Mark Litchfield shared the victories in the final round of the Super One KF2 Championship at Paul Fletcher International but it was Litchfield's stunning comeback drive in the second final that was the highlight.

The 2010 Super One KF2 Championship came to a close at PFI in Lincolnshire with two drivers who started the year in Super KF, Dennis Gorman and Mark Litchfield, claiming the wins.

The seventh and final round of the 2010 series was the second in which the KF2 field was bolstered by drivers from Super KF, which had its MSA British championship truncated due to a lack of entries after five rounds. But even with the combined field of KF2 karts only 18 drivers turned out for what will run as the MSA British Karting Championship in 2011.

Since the merger, all four point scoring finals have been won by ex-Super KF drivers although such was Jacob Nortoft's early season advantage over the original KF2 field that the additional drivers didn't have any bearing on the destiny of the KF2 title, which the Danish driver clinched at the penultimate round.

The fact that Nortoft was already champion coming into the round was just as well as the Danish star failed to complete a lap in the first final, which was eventually won by Gorman after Litchfield and Jordan Chamberlain had an altercation on the last lap.

Chamberlain managed to stay on track to finish sixth behind Billy Albone, Oliver Rowland, Jake Lloyd and Sam Snell while Litchfield fell to 13th.

Litchfield's race one demise was the precursor to a stunning comeback drive in the second final, which was run in wet conditions. With Gorman slithering off on the opening lap and retiring shortly before half distance Litchfield stormed up the order and passed Rowland for the lead on lap seven. The 2010 Super KF Champion then opened up a sensational ten second lead over the rest of the field before the end to finish his season on a high.

McLaren backed driver Rowland, making a rare start in the UK, held on comfortably for second, a fine result coming just a few weeks after the death of his father. Alex Walker, who failed to finish the first final, put in a charging drive to take third with this year's Junior Champion Jake Dennis a superb fourth on his KF2 debut. Albone took fifth with Nortoft sixth.

In the final standings Nortoft and Walker claimed the top two positions with Callum Bowyer, who could only manage a pair of eighth place finishes, a mere five points behind Walker in third overall.
