2006 Remains on Honda machinery, but moves to the DFX team. Sustains multiple minor injuries in race two of Qatar season opener but worse is to follow when he breaks his pelvis and two ribs during testing at Misano in April. Returns later in season but is a shadow of his former self and soon announces he will retire at the end of the season. Final 2006 rounds allow fans from around the world to say goodbye to the emotional and immensely popular Italian, who concludes his record-breaking racing career by scoring a point in the Magny Cours season finale. Plans to stay at DFX in a management role for 2007.

2005 Finished fifth in the Championship and moved to Klaffi Honda after PSG-1 wouldn't use Hondas, instead the team gained Kawasaki backing. Chili left to find a suitable Honda team, and although linked to the Renegade Honda team, finally took a place at Klaffi who moved into the premier championship from the Supersport class. Takes time to adjust to four-cylinder, fails to finish on podium. 11th in championship.

2004 Continued with PSG-1 Ducati. A highlight of the season was his first win on the 998/999 hybrid beating the factory Ducati's with the previous years machine. Nine podiums. 5th in championship.

2003 Sets-up his own team "PSG-1" to ride a 996 Ducati in the World Superbike championship. Claims seven podium on his way to seventh on the championship - but highlight of year is an emotional victory at Laguna Seca.

2002 Moves to NCR Ducati WSBK. Highlight of a difficult season a surprise podium at Assen. 8th in championship with 167 points.

2001 Alstare Corona Suzuki WSBK. 6th in championship with 179 points.

2000 Alstare Corona Suzuki WSBK. 4th in championship with 258 points.

1999 Alstare Corona Suzuki WSBK. 6th in championship with 251 points.
