FIA tweaks 2008 schedule.

The FIA have announced a series of tweaks to the calendar for the 2008 World Touring Car Championship season.

Perhaps the biggest change is the loss of the Mexican event that was slated to take place on 6 April, although doubts always existed over the meeting with no circuit having been announced. Although two venues were believed to be in the running, it now appears that no deal could be struck with either to host the race.

The other significant difference to the provisional calendar released in September is that the rounds in Sweden and Britain will swap dates, with Brands Hatch now playing host to the sixth round of the campaign in July and Anderstorp moving back to September - subject to homologation of the circuit.

The Japanese event at Okayama - formally known to many motorsport fans as T1 Aida from its time in Formula 1 - has now been confirmed as taking place on 26 October, with two dates having been put forward on the provisional calendar.
