All to play for on Sunday, but it has been a super Saturday for Verstappen with his Sprint win and a second pole position of the weekend.
With McLaren looking increasingly tight as the prospect of a first drivers' title since 2008 looms ever closer, the Dutchman is in an excellent position to at least turn up the pressure even more
Almost three tenths would be the margin between Verstappen and Norris at the end, further proof that the Red Bull driver isn't out of this title battle yet
It remains to be seen what Verstappen can do in race trim, particularly after McLaren were denied that chance in the Sprint.
Despite missing out on pole, Norris will take the positives of Piastri being down in sixth, the Australian looking a bit out of sorts around the twists and turns of COTA
Perhaps more crucially, it puts him right in the melee on the run into Turn 1

He missed out on the chance of a second flying lap but he didn't need it
A seventh pole of the season for the defending champion - his fourth in the last five qualifying sessions now
Disappointment for Oscar Piastri as he can only manage sixth fastest as Verstappen takes pole
Lando Norris can't punish Verstappen's mistake, he goes second
Charles Leclerc leaps to second place, with Hamilton in fourth
But! Max Verstappen dawdles on his out lap after coming out late and doesn't get round to begin his final lap before the flag

Work to do for McLaren with Norris facing down a near four tenth margin to Verstappen to bridge on his final run
Piastri has an even bigger uphill task - while his first lap was on used tyres, the Australian hasn't looked entirely comfortable in his McLaren this weekend
In fact Charles Leclerc had a full 360 at the final corner before continuing on his way - that will wake him up!

Lando Norris takes a fistful of kerb on the final corner but he still grabs P1 by 0.055s from Russell and Antonelli
It's short-lived through, Verstappen goes quickest by nearly four tenths of a second
Used tyre shod Piastri gets a banker lap in but Russell and Antonelli lead the way during these first runs so far
Shout out to Bearman, less than two tenths slower than Russell on new tyres

It's a good shout, McLaren doesn't look all that settled at COTA this afternoon
Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris, Hamilton, Antonelli, Russell, Sainz, Piastri, Alonso and Bearman will duke it out for pole position
Great job by Oliver Bearman who missed out on a well-deserved point in the Sprint Race by a time penalty that dropped him eighth to the back of the safety car bunched field at the flag.
He's bounced right back to assure himself of a top ten start for Haas' home race

They're all aiming for Bearman's tenth place but that's no improvement from four of the five in his wake after Gasly and Colapinto fall short.
Only Lawson left to deny him... but his lap time has been deleted, so no change among the top ten
Hulkenberg and Tsunoda fail to improve with their laps, leaving them in the drop zone - disappointment for the former after his Sprint Qualifying heroics
Two minutes to go and the critical final flyers are starting to come in
Hulkenberg, Lawson, Tsunoda, Colapinto and Gasly under pressure
After a scruffy opening gambit on used tyres, George Russell is back on it for his next flyers.
Job done? Well, sixth place is safe, but not safe-safe
