2025 F1 Mexico City Grand Prix: As it happened - Norris dominates race, takes overall lead

Norris pits from the lead and returns to the track comfortably ahead of Verstappen, who is yet to pit

Tsunoda's current lack of pace has really done a number on Piastri after the McLaren driver gets bottled up behind him from the esses right to the home straight, where he finally overtakes.

However, that has cost him two seconds to Russell up ahead - nevertheless, he is up to seventh

Antonelli is the latest to blast past Tsunoda with Russell quickly following his team-mate through 0- they are up to fifth and sixth

Leclerc pits and returns to the track in third place behind the yet-to-stop Verstappen

Meanwhile, Bearman is now up to fourth ahead of Tsunoda - and he is doing this on pure pace alone!

Norris is now 15secs clear of Leclerc, neither have pitted yet

Bearman catches Hadjar - who is waning on his medium tyres - at the wrong place and while he eventually gets past into Turn 1, it allows Antonelli right back onto his rear

Problems for Nico Hülkenberg, his pit-stop runs into the minutes before Sauber call a halt to proceedings for him. He joins Lawson on the DNF list

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz has a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane

The top six of Norris, Leclerc, Verstappen, Tsunoda, Ocon and Hadjar are yet to pit

Russell is next to pit to cover off Piastri - he returns to the track ahead of Piastri once again

Bearman and Piastri pit.

Bearman is now in a de facto third place as a result of Hamilton's penalty... could a dream maiden Haas podium finally be on the way today.

Piastri, meanwhile, has resumed just ahead of Hamilton

Awkward moments for the Red Bull pit wall as Verstappen's engineer is heard asking 'what are we doing? A one stop, two stop...'

That won't give Verstappen any confidence that Red Bull knows about its strategy

Kimi Antonelli is the first of the top ten drivers to pit

He was bottled up behind Verstappen but holding the Russell/Piastri tussle at arm's length

Hamilton has just been told about his 10secs penalty.

Meanwhile, no further investigation for Verstappen though

Stewards are working through a backlog filed under 'leaving the track and gaining an advantage'... there are a few drivers to look at!

Verstappen has been noted, likely for his Turn 1/2/3 off

The Verstappen and Hamilton contact is now under investigation - for causing a collision, but it's not clear who they are looking at most closely

Piastri is making progress, he's now nestled in Russell's DRS and if he can clear the Mercedes, he's in range of Antonelli and Verstappen ahead too

Hamilton still has good track position and is five seconds clear of Bearman in fourth - a lot of that margin was gained in that off though.

Indeed, it's difficult to refute the big margin he had over the drivers behind him once he'd rejoined the track, though you could argue that Verstappen's slow exit from T5 (which held up himself and those behind him) certainly contributed.

Should Ferrari have asked him to hold position and ease up to avoid a penalty? Probably...

Amid all of that drama, we have had our first DNF - it's Liam Lawson, who pits again to retire having already been in to replace his front-wing

All smooth up front for Lando Norris, he's easing his lead out to just over three seconds to Leclerc

Hamilton is still third - five seconds further adrift - but like Verstappen under investigation after the little battle that for a few corners was spent more off track than on it 

Bearman is doing a mighty job in fourth. The Haas driver moved to sixth after the start and got the better of Antonelli and Verstappen when the Dutchman held everyone up trying to stay on track.

The Briton is now +1.3secs clear of Verstappen in fifth, who is seemingly struggling to make the medium tyres work for him

Piastri is making a meal out of trying to get by Tsunoda, but at last gets the move done for 8th place
