2025 F1 Miami Grand Prix - Qualifying - As it happened

Piastri sets a 1m27.307s to go 0.2s clear of Verstappen at the top of the timesheets. 

Norris' first lap in Q1 puts him third in the order.

Verstappen's first time is a 1m27.573s to go top of the order, 0.2s ahead of Albon, who's gone ahead of Alonso.

A 1m28.058s for Alonso, 0.2s ahead of Doohan. Hulkenberg completes the top three. 

The fight to get out of Q1 is now on as the green light appears at the end of the pit lane. 

It looks set to be a dry qualifying session. So who's in the fight for pole?

Antonelli clinched pole in sprint qualifying ahead of Piastri and Norris. Piastri felt he had pole in the bag had it not been for a lock-up into the final braking zone. 

Norris led a McLaren 1-2, taking the lead of the race due to the fortunate timing of the Safety Car.

Hamilton picked up his second sprint podium of the year with a fine drive to third. Verstappen finished out of the top 10 after he was handed a 10-second time penalty for an unsafe release. 

After a break, we're back as we look ahead to qualifying.

Qualifying has been delayed by 15 minutes due to the later finish to the sprint. This has given Aston Martin and Ferrari additional time to repair Alonso and Leclerc's cars following their shunts. 

"I’m so happy with that! It’s been a tough year so far, but to have… I never thought it was going to rain in Miami. It was the first time that we’ve all been on track in the wet here, and what a race it provided us. I really, really did struggle on the inters. I think everyone was struggling on them. I made that call at the end, I was like, I’m coming in because I was going nowhere, so take the risk, take the gamble, and it paid off."

 

There could be a change to the results with Lawson under investigation for the incident with Alonso.

Norris takes the sprint race win ahead of Piastri and Hamilton.

Alonso's car is still being cleared.

Verstappen has been hit with a 10-second time penalty for his unsafe release into the path of Antonelli.

Alonso has crashed out in the Aston Martin. 

A great drive and strategy call by Ferrari to get Hamilton up to third.

Verstappen has collided with Antonelli in the pit lane. Drama here in Miami as the conditions continue to improve. 

He's now just 0.7s behind Piastri at the front of the field.

Verstappen and Antonelli have also come into the pit lane.

Ferrari have decided to stop Hamilton for a set of softs. Is there enough laps left to make the most of the slick tyres? 

Just 1.8s between the top two now. 

Tsunoda, who's running well down the order, has come in for a set of mediums. This could be spicy. 

DRS has been enabled.

The main battle in the top 10 is Antonelli against Russell. Less than a second between those two in the battle for fourth.
