Lewis Hamilton

"It has been such a battle with the car and the team but we stayed vigilant.

"They are too quick for us at the moment but we are getting closer!

"Hopefully we will be in a fight with these guys."

Carlos Sainz

"I was pushing flat out. I tried everything. But we didn't have enough pace.

"We were quicker, faster all race, but it takes a little bit more to overtake here."

20:46

Max Verstappen

"The Safety Car did not help. It was exciting at the end.

"I could see Carlos was pushing, charging. The last few laps were a lot of fun.

"This year we are quick on the straights which helps a lot.

"The Safety Car meant Ferrari had fresher tyres. I would have preferred attacking over defending."

Six in a row for Red Bull!

What a run of form for Christian Horner's team.

20:42

Lewis Hamilton: "The car was a lot better today. Let's keep pushing!"

FINAL LAP!

Can Verstappen hold on?

20:37

Two laps to go! The gap is 0.6s at the start of this lap!

20:35

Verstappen looks calm and controlled out front. He appears to be heading towards a sixth grand prix win of the season.

20:32

Sainz keeps getting within 0.5s of Verstappen over the line but it isn't quite enough for him to launch a proper attack.

With five laps to go, can Verstappen hold on? It looks like he has the pace.

20:30

The leaders have dropped Hamilton by a couple of seconds. Hamilton has also pulled clear of Russell heading into the closing stages. A second podium of the season is looking good for Hamilton here.

20:28

Leclerc quickly passes Ocon back to regain fifth place with a move into the hairpin.

20:27

Leclerc skips the final chicane and drops behind Ocon to sixth.

20:25

Zhou has moved up to ninth, passing Vettel, who has dropped down to 11th and out of the points.

20:23

Sainz is within DRS range of Verstappen now thanks to a new fastest lap of the race.

20:22

Sainz is desperately trying to stay within DRS range of Verstappen, who has scampered nearly a second clear at the end of the first lap back racing.

DRS won't be available for two laps.

20:20

Verstappen holds the lead from Sainz, Hamilton and Russell through the first couple of corners.

20:19

GREEN FLAG!

We are back racing on Lap 55 of 70 in Canada!

The Safety Car has also enabled the Alpine pair of Ocon and Alonso to dive into the pits for a fresh set of mediums.

It has also worked out well for Alfa Romeo, with Bottas and Zhou both pitting for new tyres.

20:11

Sainz now has tyres that are six laps younger than Verstappen's and will be right behind him when the race gets back underway.

Lap 49: SAFETY CAR!

Tsunoda has crashed down at Turn 1 after losing control of his AlphaTauri coming out of the pits.

Sainz takes the opportunity to pit. This has worked beautifully for the Ferrari man.

20:06

Lap 48: Sainz leads Verstappen by 8.2s but the Red Bull is on much fresher tyres, having made an extra stop. Will Sainz try and go to the end?
