Zhuhai Is A-1, Says Villeneuve

World champion Jacques Villeneuve expressed his contentment with China's first grand prix circuit, comparing its layout with that of Austria's A-1 Ring.


The Williams number one was not able to drive his regular mount around F1's latest addition, but managed three laps in a Renault Spider during a promotional visit to the Far East.


([The circuit] is good, wide enough and has good braking zones,) Villeneuve revealed, (It lacks high speed corners, however. It reminds me of the A-1 Ring.)

The Canadian was quick to point out, however, that the Styrian circuit has produced two exciting events since it was re-introduced to the schedule in 1997.
