Argentina Is Off.

The Argentine Grand Prix has been cancelled after its organisers failed to raise the funds necessary to host the event.

The race, which was originally slated as a reserve event, only appeared on the 1999 schedule after the Chinese GP was removed because of doubts over its ability to host the F1 circus. Now, with this latest cancellation, the schedule has been pared to just 16 races, with a five-week gap separating the Australian and Brazilian Grands Prix.

China is rumoured to appear later in the season, somewhere between the Malaysian and Japanese races, but this is still thought unlikely by F1 insiders.
