Shane Byrne has shown off he is neck halo-free in a major step towards his recovery from a horrific accident suffered at a Snetterton test last May.

Andrew Irwin will step-in for the injured Shane Byrne and join brother Glenn in the Be Wiser Ducati squad starting with round four of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton this weekend.

Shane Byrne’s family have released an update on his condition after his Snetterton test crash last week, confirming the six-time Bennetts British Superbike champion has undergone a successful surgery on spinal fractures.
