Max Verstappen has hailed the revamped Zandvoort Circuit after becoming the first driver to sample the new layout ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix’s return to the Formula 1 calendar.
Zandvoort’s new banked corners have been finished which marks the completion of the upgrades to the Dutch circuit ahead of Formula 1’s return to the country.
The Zandvoort circuit that will host the revised Dutch Grand Prix in the 2020 Formula 1 season will meet the FIA’s Grade 1 standards following the installation of new fencing.
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner says “there is no downside” on expanding the Formula 1 race calendar to 22 races in the future, but only if key rule changes are installed.
Daniel Ricciardo says Formula 1 drivers will need “big balls” to tackle Zandvoort but fears the narrow circuit layout will lead to processional racing.
Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn says the return of the Dutch Grand Prix reflects F1’s philosophy of having a mixture of new circuits and historic venues on the calendar.

The Assen TT circuit has passed simulation tests and will be inspected in early 2018 as it hunts an FIA Grade 1 license to open up the possibility of hosting the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix in the future.
