Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc has explained how a mix-up over his travel documentation forced him to take a detour to New York ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Jaguar Racing’s Sam Bird converted pole position into a comfortable race victory to take the lead of the Formula E drivers’ championship after winning the New York City E-Prix.

Sam Bird will start the second New York City E-Prix from pole position after beating Jaguar teammate Mitch Evans in qualifying.
