24 Hours of Le Mans LIVE: Race updates as Toyota, BMW battle for lead

Live updates from the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans

KEY MOMENTS

The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans begins today, Saturday 13 June, with BMW starting on pole for the first time in the top class.

The world's most famous 24-hour race will host its 94th edition this weekend, as 186 drivers across 62 cars and three classes battle for victory.

The 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will see BMW start on pole for the first time, after a dramatic Hyperpole session on Thursday evening.

The No.15 WRT-run BMW crew of Kevin Magnussen, Raffele Marciello and Dries Vanthoor, inherited pole after the No.38 Hertz Team Jota Cadillac of Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais had their pole time cancelled post-session.

The No.38 Cadillac was dropped to 10th on the grid.

Last year's Le Mans-winning customer Ferrari AF Corse entry - the No.83 car - driven by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson was the big shock of qualifying, as it failed to get into Hyperpole.

The No.83 car will defend its Le Mans crown from 17th on the grid.

Ferrari only got one car into the final part of Hyperpole on Thursday night, with the No.51 car of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovonazzi a best of eighth on the grid.

The Scuderia will be aiming for its fourth successive 24 Hours of Le Mans win this weekend, but will face stiff competition from a Hypercar field that looks wide open.

2026 24 Hours of Le Mans schedule

Race start - 3pm BST, 13 June

Race finish - 3pm BST, 14 June

13 Jun 2026
17:34

The No.78 Lexus with Van Rompuy has strengthened its lead in LMGT3 to 18.5s.

17:34

The No.30 Duqueine car of Verschoor didn't lose very much in that tangle with the Ferrari earlier. He's 13.7s clear in the LMP2 lead.

17:32

The two Jota Cadillacs have swapped positions, with the No.38 of Jack Aitken now into third.

17:28

The No.50 Ferrari is down to ninth after that.

17:27

That was the No.30 LMP2-leading Duqueine car of Richard Verschoor involved, though that didn't really look too much like his fault.

17:27
Ferrari contact

The No.50 Ferrari has had a spin at Tertre Rouge trying to overtake an LMP2 car!

17:25

So this race is very much to-ing and fro-ing through the pistop cycles. But Toyota looks like, for the time being, it is the one with the ball in its court.

That offset strategy has worked well for the No.8, who is building its advantage back up to 30s.

17:24

In LMGT3, the No.78 Lexus of Tom Van Rumpuy still leads, now 22s clear of the No.69 WRT BMW.

17:22

The No.12 Caddy is still third with Louis Deletraz now in the car.

17:22

Brendon Hartley is 27.1s clear of the rest in the No.8 Toyota. The No.20 BMW has come back out in second, and it's Sheldon van der Linde behind the wheel - not Robin Frijns.

17:21

And it's now gone.

17:21

There's a double yellow flag out somewhere, but not sure for what.

17:21
New leader

The No.8 Toyota is back into the lead.

17:20

The race-leading No.20 BMW is in for its stop now as Rast jumps out for Robin Frijns.

17:18

Giovinazzi is still stuck in traffic on this lap 39, which has put the No.101 Caddy further out of reach.

17:18

The No.15 BMW is in the pits now. This race just hasn't worked out for the polesitting car so far.

17:15

Giovinazzi has been caught by an LMGT3 car, which allows Alberquerque to bolt on the Caddy.

17:14

The No.51 Ferrari of Giovinazzi is coming in soon but he's battling hard with the No.101 WTR Cadillac.

17:10

The No.35 Alpine is in now and Habsburg hands over to Charles Milesi.

The sister car is in, as is the No.50 Ferrari.

17:09

LMP2 top five into hour three:

  1. 343 Inter Europol
  2. No.30 Duqueine
  3. No.28 IDEC Sport
  4. No.29 Panis Racing
  5. No.43 Inter Europol
17:08

The No.92 Manthey Porsche suffered a broken tyre rod, which is why it was in the pits for 15 minutes in the previous hour.

17:07

Nyck de Vries is into the No.7 Toyota after that stop.

17:07

So, at the start of hour three, the Hypercar order is:

  1. No.20 BMW
  2. No.35 Alpine
  3. No.38 Cadillac
  4. No.12 Cadillac
  5. No.101 Cadillac
  6. No.51 Ferrari
  7. No.50 Ferrari
  8. No.15 BMW
  9. No.36 Alpine
  10. No.007 Aston
  11. No.19 Genesis
  12. No.83 AF Corse Ferrari
  13. No.Genesis
  14. No.8 Toyota
  15. No.94 Peugeot
  16. No.93 Peugeot
  17. No.7 Toyota
  18. No.009 Aston
17:04

The No.23 Aston LMGT3 car had a spin coming out of the first chicane but is going again.

17:02
New leader

Rene Rast is back in the lead in the No.20 BMW.

Buemi is out of the car and has let Brendon Hartley jump in.
