  • 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans is underway
  • Safety car in hour 19 for big LMGT3 crash
  • No.50 Ferrari out in hour 19
  • Toyota, Cadillac, BMW battling for lead
  • Cadillac leads after Hour 18

The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans begins today, Saturday 13 June, with BMW starting on pole for the first time in the top class.

The world's most famous 24-hour race will host its 94th edition this weekend, as 186 drivers across 62 cars and three classes battle for victory.

The 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will see BMW start on pole for the first time, after a dramatic Hyperpole session on Thursday evening.

The No.15 WRT-run BMW crew of Kevin Magnussen, Raffele Marciello and Dries Vanthoor, inherited pole after the No.38 Hertz Team Jota Cadillac of Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais had their pole time cancelled post-session.

The No.38 Cadillac was dropped to 10th on the grid.

Last year's Le Mans-winning customer Ferrari AF Corse entry - the No.83 car - driven by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson was the big shock of qualifying, as it failed to get into Hyperpole.

The No.83 car will defend its Le Mans crown from 17th on the grid.

Ferrari only got one car into the final part of Hyperpole on Thursday night, with the No.51 car of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovonazzi a best of eighth on the grid.

The Scuderia will be aiming for its fourth successive 24 Hours of Le Mans win this weekend, but will face stiff competition from a Hypercar field that looks wide open.

2026 24 Hours of Le Mans schedule

Race start - 3pm BST, 13 June

Race finish - 3pm BST, 14 June

13 Jun 2026
12:47

At this stage on lap 343, the gap between the top four is 43s.

12:44

Toyota confirm it will put Buemi into the car at the next stop in three laps.

12:43

The BMW in second has moved 5.3s clear of the No.8 Toyota. So, the team does need to do something if it wants to get a 1-2.

12:42

Hartley says over the radio that he's not quick and the team should consider putting Buemi into the car.

12:41

State of play right now is that the top three are pretty much on the same fuel levels. The No.12 Cadillac in fourth has more onboard right now.

12:39

The gap between the No.20 BMW and the No.8 Toyota has extended to 3.9s.

12:38

The No.33 Corvette is still in control in LMGT3, 12s in front of the field.

12:37

The lead gap in LMP2 is 7.9s between the No.343 and No.43 Inter Europol cars.

12:36

The No.8 Toyota is just 2.777s behind the No.20 BMW.

12:31

De Vries has asked for less updates from his engineer. Clearly, the pressure is piling up now.

12:31

The No.7 Toyota's lead has grown to 19s sine the last round of stops.

12:23

The lead gap between the No.7 Toyota and the No.20 BMW is 21.4s after that round of stops.

The top four is covered by 54s now.

12:22

Tell you what: if we get another safety car soon, the No.83 AF Corse Ferrari may well just come back into this. Kubica is on the lead lap, 1m18s off the lead.

And, honestly, the way this race has gone so far, would you really be surprised if we do get a late safety car?

12:21

The LMP2 battle is still tight. The No.343 Inter Eurpol car is 19s up the road from the sister No.43 car.

In LMGT3, the No.33 Corvette is just 4.2s clear of the No.23 Aston Martin.

12:19

This race really has been something. Everything is still up in the air with just over two and a half hours to go.

12:17

Cadillac is changing driver in the No.12.

The No.7 retains the lead after that stop. The No.7 didn't change tyres, which has kept it in the lead.

The No.20 BMW is up to second ahead of the No.8 Toyota and the No.12 Cadillac, which has Will Stevens at the wheel.

12:16

The No.7 and the No.12 are in the pits again.

12:15

The No.20 didn't change tyres at that stop, while the No.8 did, hence why they've swapped position on track.

12:13

The No.20 BMW is up to third after that round of stops ahead of the No.8 Toyota.

12:12

That was an emergency stop for the No.7 and the No.12 because the pitlane entry was closed. So, that's a disaster for them.

12:12
Green flag

The No.7 is in the pits. As is the No.12.

The FCY has been withdrawn.

12:11

The No.51 Ferrari was nearly wiped out by the No.32 BMW LMGT3 car at the Dunlop chicane.

12:10
Full Course Yellow

The FCY has been activated so that No.27 car can be recovered.

12:09
Retirement - No.27 LMGT3

Looks like a terminal issue for the No.27 Aston Martin. Its race is done.

12:08

The No.8 is back out into third ahead of the No.20 BMW, who also just stopped.
