2025 24 Hours of Le Mans as it happened

Live updates from the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans begins at 4pm CET on Saturday 14 June.

The showpiece event of the entire endurance racing year, the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans is the 93rd edition of the iconic event held at the Circuit de la Sarthe in mid-June.

Cadillac will be chasing an historic first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, after it locked out the front row for a maiden pole earlier this week in Hyperpole.

The Jota-run Cadillac's of the No.12 and No.38 cars will lead the field at the start of the race on Saturday and could become the first American manufacturer to win outright at Le Mans since Ford in 1969.

Cadillac - who has four cars on the grid in Hypercar - will face stiff opposition, however, with six manufacturers expected to be in the mix for victory over the next 24 hours.

Last year's winners Ferrari struggled in qualifying, with the 2024 victor No.50 car only seventh, while the No.51 car and the No.83 AF Corse entry 11th and 13th on the grid.

Porsche will be aiming for a 20th victory at Le Mans and the first for Roger Penske, with the Penske Motorsport-run 963s starting from third, fifth and last in class. The No.6 entry was disqualified from Wednesday's qualifying results due to a weight limit infringement.

Toyota goes for a sixth victory at Le Mans on the 40th anniversary of its first visit to the French enduro, though it will do so from far down the grid, in 10th and 16th.

Other marques looking to push themselves into victory contention are BMW and Alpine, while returning Aston Martin and the Peugeot entries look set for a tough race.

Three classes will be on track, with the LMP2 field led off the line by the No.29 TDS Racing entry, while LMGT3 is headed by the No.27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin.

The race runs from 4pm CET Saturday 14 June to 4pm CET on Sunday 15 June, and is a double points round in the World Endurance Championship.

23:36

The No.15 BMW is now being reviewed for pitlane speeding again.

23:35

The No.6 is in the pits on lap 142.

23:34

Estre will be coming in this time around but he's really extended on this stint compared to the Ferraris behind him. So, this race is taking on an intriguing complexion heading into the 10-hour mark.

23:32

The No.22 United Autosports LMP2 car of Renger van der Zande will have a five-second penalty for an unsafe release. He is sixth in class.

23:29

Kevin Estre has gone onto lap 140 and will be in pretty soon. He's about a minute clear of the No.83, which is four seconds clear of the No.51 Ferrari.

So, after all that with team orders and the error for the No.83, it's back in front but a healthy chunk.

23:24

No.81 is in, the No.6 leads as expected.

23:21

The No.50 car is in. The No.83 will be in from the lead this time around.

23:18

Ferrari has asked the No.50 to triple stint the soft tyres, to which Nicklas Nielse calmly replies "yep, fine".

23:17

The No.51 Ferrari has come in for a stop on lap 136.

23:10

The No.15 BMW has been spared a penalty as no further action warranted on a potential pitlane speeding infringement. That car is 12th currently with Robin Frijns driving.

23:09

So, the No.51 Ferrari of James Calado that won Le Mans in 2023 leads on lap 134 in hour nine by just over a second from the No.83 AF Corse Ferrari.

The No.6 Porsche of Kevin Estre is 14.6s off the lead, while the No.50 Ferrari is 33.7s off the lead.

23:07

The No.83 was just told he braked "20 metres later than your fastest lap, stay cool man". So, that explains that off.

23:07

Phil Hanson has gone off in the No.83 at the Mulsanne. Rear locked. He's lost the lead to the No.51.

So, that's resolved that team orders headache.

23:06

Hyper car top at start of hour nine:

  1. No.83 AF Corse
  2. No.51 Ferrari
  3. No.6 Porsche
  4. No.50 Ferarri
  5. No.8 Toyota
  6. No.4 Porsche
  7. No.5 Porsche
  8. No.311 Whelen Cadillac
  9. No.15 BMW
  10. No.12 Jota Cadillac

LMP2:

  1. No.48 VDS Panis Racing
  2. No.43 Inter Europol
  3. No.28 IDEC Sport
  4. No.9 Iron Lynx
  5. No.18 IDEC Sport

LMGT3:

  1. No.46 WRT BMW
  2. No.92 Manthey Porsche
  3. No.21 Vista AF Corse Ferrari
  4. No.78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus
  5. No.87 Akkodis ASP Lexus
23:03

In LMP2, the No.48 VDS Panis Racing car is leading but is still facing a potential penalty for an earlier infringement.

In LMGT3, the No.46 WRT BMW is dominating. Ahmad Al Harthy has recently gotten into that car after a stop and is over 50s clear of the No.92 Manthey Porsche.

23:01
2025 24 Hours of Le Mans - Hour 9

We're into hour nine now and the No.83 AF Corse is leading - but is being told to move aside for the No.51 of James Calado.

But the gap is 1.8s. So, that's not really working out right now.

23:00
Penalty - No.20 BMW

The No.20 BMW has now been pinged for pitlane speeding and has been given a drive-through.

22:59

One has to wonder if Ferrari is trying to cover off Porsche here on its offset fuel strategy?

22:59

No.50 now being told this will happen when it happens, don't worry. Intriguing situation here.

22:58

The No.50 is now being told to get close on the main straight and the move will happen.

22:57

The No.50 Ferrari is being told he will be overtaking the No.83 at the Dunlop curve.

22:51

Hugely disappointing race for the Cadillacs given what we saw all week at Le Mans from them. The top car is the No.311 in ninth. The No.12 pole car is 13th.

22:50

The No.6 has taken a full tank on board and some fresh rubber. He rejoins in third.

22:47

No.6 comes into the pits on lap 128 for his stop. That car is on a fuel offset a bit similar to the No.83 AF Corse, which is different to the two factory Ferrari team cars.

Long, long way to go - but this maybe isn't going to go quite the way Ferrari wants it to.

22:45

The No.7 Toyota has had a shocker today. It's now just been lapped by the No.6 Porsche.
