But Bezzecchi responds, and is now 0.209s clear of Miller at the top of the timesheets.
With two long laps to serve in the grand prix, the last thing Bezzecchi needs is a bad qualifying, so direct Q2 access is more important than ever for the Aprilia rider...
Boom! Bezzecchi smashes the old lap record with a 1m 26.580s!
Marco Bezzecchi chooses a new hard front (and soft rear) for his time attack set-up, most others seem to prefer a new medium.
That includes Miller, who goes fastest on his second flying lap.
The top seven riders are currently covered by just 0.292s!
Home hero and FP1 leader Jack Miller is the first of the full-time riders to go out for a time attack... he puts his Pramac Yamaha into 2nd behind Fabio di Giannantonio.
Order before time attacks:
- Fabio di Giannantonio
- Marco Bezzecchi

- Miguel Oliveira
- Lorenzo Savadori

20mins to go and Pirro looks to be the first rider to try a time attack. He's currently being towed by team-mate Francesco Bagnaia.
Pol Espargaro continues to impress in his latest stand-in ride, currently holding 11th for Tech3 KTM, in place of Maverick Vinales.
Fellow test rider Lorenzo Savadori is 18th for Aprilia, and Michele Pirro 22nd and last on Marc Marquez's Ducati.
Loads of different tyre strategies at play at the moment - old and new, different compounds - as teams rush to gather data in case of bad weather.
The only clear indication at the moment is that the soft is the preferred choice for the rear.
Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez puts a new soft tyre, with an old hard front tyre, to climb to fifth.
Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo is now trying the hard front.

Former Phillip Island winner Alex Rins climbs to third for Monster Yamaha, just 0.082s behind di Giannantonio.
The dominant tyre choice so far is medium front and soft rear. Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Franco Morbidelli are currently on the hard front. Bagnaia in the pits.
Acosta falls at Turn 4, a slow lowside, hopefully without damaging the carbon fibre swingarm.
Pedro Acosta's KTM has a new swingarm, featuring some aero. Luca Marini also has some revised aero on his Honda today.
di Giannantonio returns to the top of the timesheets on his 10th lap with medium front and soft rear tyres.

Bagnaia is back out and, just as this morning, he looks much more comfortable on his spare bike. He's set his best time of the day and is up to 5th.
Bagnaia - like Acosta, Alex Marquez, Brad Binder and Luca Marini - is on the hard front tyre.
Déjà vu for @PeccoBagnaia?

Dorna pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard explains it was the same #1 bike that caused Bagnaia problems.
Having had a strong end to FP1 on his #1 bike, the Italian will surely switch across if the issue cannot be fixed soon, as he's losing valuable track time.
Fabio di Giannantonio now goes fastest on his GP25. The VR46 rider is using the medium front and soft rear tyres. Acosta is now in second is on the hard front and soft rear.
Meanwhile, it's Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia who are first into the 1m 27s this weekend.
Pedro Acosta, Fabio di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo, Alex Marquez and Alex Rins are next closest.
