MotoGP Brazil Sprint LIVE: Marc Marquez takes first win of 2026

Live updates from the Sprint at the 2026 Brazilian MotoGP at Goiania as the series returns to Brazil for the first time since 2004.

Live coverage of Saturday's action at the 2026 Brazilian MotoGP at Goiania, where delays have meant the Sprint is due to start at 15:20 local time.

Key Moments

  • Hole emerges on front straight, causes repairs, delay
  • Di Giannantonio secures pole after crash-strewn Q2
  • Bezzecchi tops Q1 despite late FP2 crash
  • Moreira misses home race Q2

Fabio Di Giannantonio starts on pole position for the Sprint after going fastest in qualifying this morning. He and Marco Bezzecchi start 1-2 after coming through Q1, and after both suffered crashes this morning. Di Giannantonio went down in Q2 after setting his pole position lap, while Bezzecchi fell about 15 minutes before Q1 started towards the end of FP2.

Marc Marquez completes the front row in Brazil despite suffering his own Q2 crash and feeling the right-handed Goiania track doesn't suit his riding style.

Championship leader Pedro Acosta starts ninth and way ahead of the other KTMs who occupy the last three positions on the grid. Acosta was another Q2 crasher, going down a lap before Marquez at the same corner.

Fermin Aldeguer impressed yesterday by getting into Q2, then again this morning in qualifying itself when he finished seventh and ahead of his teammate, Alex Marquez, by one position.

Fabio Quartararo perhaps shocked more than anyone, though, qualifying fourth on the V4 Yamaha and once again proving his capabilities over one lap.

Following qualifying, a hole emerged in the track surface on the start-finish straight. It meant a delay to the afternoon sessions. The MotoGP Sprint will now start at 16:20 local time, rather than 15:00, and before the Moto3 qualifying session take place, after work was done this afternoon to repair the affected area of the track. Moto2 qualifying will now take place on Sunday morning.

13:25

Most riders back in the pits now as Ogura moves up to second - good session so far for the rookie.

13:22

Bit of an off for Martin at 9/10/11, just a run through the gravel.

Marquez, meanwhile, has got himself back to the top on a 1m18.663s. Morbidelli now seconds ahead of Di Giannantonio, then Vinales fourth ahead of Bezzecchi.

13:19

Crash for Luca Marini at turn one. He's walking away.

13:18

Di Giannantonio now to the top. He leads Marc Marquez and Martin. Alex Marquez still in fourth, then it's Bagnaia and Morbidelli in the top-six.

13:17

Crash for Alex Marquez, just lost the front into turn four. Very frustrated with himself for that because he's losing key dry track time now.

13:16

Times scrolling hastily early on here, as you'd expect given the state of the track, which is still patchy but drier than it was at any point yesterday.

Marquez down now to a 1m18.911s and leads Alex Marquez by just over a tenth.

13:14

Marc Marquez with the early benchmark, a 1m20.372s to put him just under a tenth ahead of Bezzecchi, then it was Acosta but Quartararo has just popped up to third himself.

13:10
FP2 start

Conditions are as dry as they've been this weekend in Goiania this morning. Should be an important FP2 session, therefore, as riders try to dial themselves in to this new layout as well as understand tyre wear before the Sprint later on.

27C air temperature, 38C track temperature at the start of this 30-minute session.

13:02

Welcome to live coverage of today's MotoGP action from Goiania.

FP2 will be starting in just a couple of minutes. Qualifying is due to get underway at 10:50 local time, so in just under 50 minutes.
