2026 Jerez MotoGP test LIVE: Ai Ogura fastest as session ends

Live text coverage of the Jerez MotoGP in-season test

KEY MOMENTS

  • Ai Ogura tops Jerez test outright
  • Alex Marquez fastest in session one
  • Crash for Bezzecchi
  • Aprilia and Ducati run intriguing new aero parts

The MotoGP paddock remains at Jerez on Monday for the first in-season test of the 2026 season, as teams look for final refinements of their 1000cc machines.

Four in-season tests are scheduled to take place this year, though only two of them have been deemed official, with the others marking the first outings for the Pirelli tyres among race riders.

Monday 27 April marks the first official in-season test of the campaign at Jerez, and will likely be the last chance for most to trial new parts ahead of the shift in development resources fully to the 2027 850cc bikes.

All eyes will be on Ducati to see if the Italian brand can find a significant step with its GP26, after a mixed start to the campaign that has seen it largely on the back foot to Aprilia.

Ducati ended its victory drought on Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix, after Alex Marquez dominated at Jerez. But it was a performance that somewhat surprised him.

The brand's factory team hasn't scored a podium since Japan last year, with this test vital in helping Marc Marquez find something on his bike as his title challenge already looks in jeopardy after a crash on Sunday at Jerez.

Aprilia will hope to understand why it couldn't find race-winning pace on Sunday in today's test day, with its victory streak snapped by Alex Marquez and Ducati.

At the Spanish Grand Prix, a clear gap emerged between Aprilia and Ducati, and the rest of the pack. The likes of KTM and Honda have a big day ahead of them at Jerez in the test to try to cut into that gap.

Yamaha will have a number of new bits to try and things to reconfirm, as it looks for any way forward from its current position.

While there is another Monday test in a few weeks in Barcelona, this one likely represents the last big development push most factories will make for the current 1000cc rules.

Ducati, especially, will be one to watch, particularly with Marc Marquez's title challenge looking on shaky ground.
