Hayden joins American legends with dream win.
Nicky Hayden joined a long list of American racing legends on Sunday after clinching a faultless first MotoGP victory at his home US Grand Prix - the Repsol Honda rider leading from start to finish, after bolting from pole and leaving the rest of the 21-rider field trailing in his wake.
Biaggi wins `fun` Gibernau duel.
Honda riders Max Biaggi and Sete Gibernau were locked together for no less than 22 of the 32 lap US Grand Prix, with the Roman Repsol Honda rider finally winning their personal duel for fourth by a slim 0.0262secs at the chequered flag.
Melandri apologises for Barros take-out.
Movistar Honda rider Marco Melandri has apologised to Honda Pons rider Alex Barros after taking out the front row qualifier at the end of the first lap of Sunday's US Grand Prix.
Biaggi, Melandri, Gibernau buried in the pack.
Honda riders Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri and Sete Gibernau have all claimed podium finishes and battled for race victory during the 2005 season, but qualifying for Sunday's US GP at Laguna Seca saw the European trio overshadowed by home grown talent and former Superbike riders.
Lawson officially a Legend.
Four times 500cc World Champion Eddie Lawson was welcomed into the MotoGP Hall of Fame, as a MotoGP legend, on the eve of the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. Californian born Lawson won three 500cc world titles in 1984/86/88 for Yamaha before switching to Honda to clinch the 1989 title.

Nicky Hayden will start the US Grand Prix from the front of the grid after setting his first ever MotoGP pole position, in front of his home fans, during a sell-out qualifying session at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Since the introduction of the 990cc four-stroke MotoGP class at the start of 2002, 55 races have taken place. Of these, Valentino Rossi has won 35, while riding for Honda in 2002 and 2003 and then Yamaha from 2004 onwards.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team and its riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards will contest this weekend's US Grand Prix in Laguna Seca in a special yellow, white and black livery to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Yamaha Motor Company.
Barros represents Laguna`s 500cc heritage.
On September 11th 1994 Alex Barros left Laguna Seca with an eighth placed finish in the 500cc US GP. It was a somewhat disappointing result considering that one year earlier (top two pics), when also on a Suzuki, he'd finished second behind home hero John Kocinski.

An 'eventful' day at Assen has ended with Repsol Honda's Max Biaggi being fined $6000 US by race direction. Biaggi was involved in two major 'incidents' during the last 10-minutes of today's qualifying session at Assen.

Kallio leads 125cc KTM qualifying one-two.
Mika Kallio took pole position for the 125cc Dutch TT by just 0.060 seconds ahead of his KTM team-mate Gabor Talmacsi this afternoon, after giving the Hungarian a handy tow on the very last lap of qualifying.
