Silver Machine commence Elite League assault.
The Oxford Silver Machine commence their assault on the 2003 Sky Sports Elite League when they travel North to take on the Belle Vue Aces from Manchester tonight [Monday].

Sneddon breaks left femur.
Edinburgh youngster Derek Sneddon has suffered a broken left femur after a horrifying crash during the 45-45 British League Cup draw at Workington. Sneddon was sent over the Derwent Park safety fence in the re-run of Heat 8.

Heavy defeat for Racers.
In the final match of the triangular M4 Trophy last night [Thursday], the Euphony Reading Racers went down to a heavy defeat of 55-35 to their near-neighbours Swindon Robins.

No work permit for Larsen.
Belle Vue have been rocked by the Department of Employment refusing them a work permit for Josh Larsen. The American was set to return to British Speedway after a four year absence but that is now on hold.

Smith signs for Sprockets.
Swindon Speedway have announced the acquisition of Darren Smith for their 2003 Pro-Fit Sprockets line-up.

Speedway GP secures live Swedish TV deal.
Sweden's leading national broadcaster SVT is increasing coverage of world championship speedway following an agreement with Benfield Sports International (BSI).

Walker signs for Sprockets.
Swindon Speedway announced today that 23 year-old Badminton based rider, Simon Walker, will ride for the Pro-fit Sprockets in 2003.

Tatum receives MBE at Buckingham Palace.
Arena-Essex Speedway star Kelvin Tatum today received his MBE from Her Majesty the Queen, at Buckingham Palace, London [pictured].
Speedway mourns loss of Ken Moss.
Buxton promoter Ken Moss has passed away peacefully at the age of 64 after a short illness. Moss took control of the Hitmen in 1998 and saw them win the Conference League Knockout Cup last year.

GMB Dons take to the track.
Wimbledon Speedway have clinched one of the most high profile sponsorships in British Speedway, after reaching agreement with the GMB union and will henceforth be known as the 'GMB Dons'.

Machine ready for Coventry trip tonight.
The tapes rise tonight [Saturday] on the 2003 Sky Sports Elite League season when the Oxford Silver Machine make the short trip north to Coventry in an opening season challenge, the match gets underway at 7.30pm.

The 2003 speedway season starts this weekend, as Reading opening fixtures sees them up against their M4 rivals Newport Wasps in the M4 Challenge Trophy. Racers travel to Wales on Sunday 16th March, before opening up the season at Smallmead 24-hours later against the Wasps.

Speedway fans flock to Stoneleigh.
Fans flocked in big numbers from throughout the country to the second staging of the Speedway Great Britain Exhibition at Stoneleigh this weekend. Organisers confirmed numbers were significantly increased on last year, both with supporters and exhibitors.

CANAL+ extends live coverage.
Benfield Sports International (BSI) has agreed a contract with CANAL+ Cyfrowy, the owner of Pay TV CANAL+ Polska, to extend their exclusive live television rights contract for both the Speedway Grand Prix Series and the Speedway World Cup, until 2007.

King's Lynn race ready after Aussie signing.
King's Lynn have completed their team by signing Australian Shane McCabe on a full transfer from Peterborough. McCabe rode for Peterborough's Conference League side last season and also had a brief spell in the Premier League with Somerset.

The speedway world is bracing itself for a Viking invasion this Sunday, as Hull's speedway team prepares to occupy a double stand at the now annual Speedway GB Exhibition - and is bringing supporters in to see the show by the bus load.
Stonehewer makes up with Workington.
Carl Stonehewer has settled his differences with Workington and will lead the Comets into the 2003 season. The former Grand Prix star criticised club bosses Ian Thomas and Tony Mole last week, claiming they had been obstructive in his wish to 'double-up' with Belle Vue.
