2025 Estoril WorldSBK: Race 2 As It Happened

Live coverage of Race 2 from the Estoril WorldSBK at Circuito Estoril.

Sunday at the Estoril WorldSBK could see Toprak Razgatlioglu crowned champion in Race 2, which is set to start at 14:00 local time.

Razgatlioglu will start from pole position and has won both races so far this weekend. To clinch the title, he needs to outscore Nicolo Bulega by 18 points this afternoon.

Alvaro Bautista will complete the front row and has finished third in both races so far this weekend. The Spanish is now eight points behind the absent Danilo Petrucci and three points ahead of Andrea Locatelli - who has been fourth in both races so far - in the battle for third in the standings.

Jonathan Rea was also in the podium battle yesterday but encountered a brake issue in the second half of the race and finished sixth in the end. This morning, he crashed in the Superpole Race while fifth behind Locatelli.

As well as Danilo Petrucci, there will be no Sam Lowes on the grid today after he was ruled unfit yesterday due to a chest contusion sustained before the Estoril weekend. After Race 1, he's only four points ahead of Alex Lowes in the contest for sixth in the standings.

Iannone through on Razgatlioglu as well so he's back to P5. Iannone seems like he jumped the start but nothing official yet.

14:01
Race 2 start

It's lights out in Estoril and Race 2 is underway. Holeshot for Bulega, Razgatlioglu back to fourth. It's Locatelli P2 and then Bautista.

13:58
Warm-up lap

Warm-up lap is underway in Estoril. 21 laps of Race 2 coming up shortly.

13:55
Rea, Lowes

After they both crashed in the Superpole Race, Alex Lowes and Jonathan Rea will both start from the fourth row in Race 2. They both have pace for the top-five but the start will be important for both of them in order to maximise their race.

13:52
Wildcards and injuries

A few changes to the regular grid, if you've missed them so far this weekend.

Both Sam Lowes and Danilo Petrucci have been ruled unfit this weekend and will not line up. For both this has points implications, as Petrucci is now coming under increasing pressure from Alvaro Bautista and Andrea Locatelli for third place in the standings; while Sam Lowes is now only four points clear of Alex Lowes in the fight for fifth.

There are also two wildcards this weekend, as Honda test rider Tetsuta Nagashima and MotoAmerica runner-up Bobby Fong join the grid.

Ivo Lopes is also racing this weekend for MIE Honda in place of Zaqhwan Zaidi who has been racing at Sepang in the ARRC and had quite a dramatic end to the ASB1000 race today with Hafizh Syahrin - go and check that one out after Race 2 in Estoril is finished if you didn't catch it this morning.

13:48
Razgatlioglu title chance

The key aspect of today's Race 2 is clearly the title opportunity for Toprak Razgatlioglu.

It's a long shot for Razgatlioglu and it's not in his hands today as he must outscore Nicolo Bulega by 18 points.

If Razgatlioglu does not finish in the top-two, he cannot be champion, and if Bulega finishes on the podium - which he has done on almost every occasion this year - the Italian will keep the title fight going to Jerez.

13:46
Conditions

Slightly cooler conditions for Race 2 than Race 1, although not by much.

24C air temperature and 30C track temperature.

Points permutations

Here are the points permutations for Toprak Razgatlioglu to win the title in WorldSBK Race 2.

It's a long shot, but it's mathematically possible.

11:17
Razgatlioglu wins Estoril Superpole Race

It's victory in the Superpole Race for Razgatlioglu, he beats Bulega who takes second.

Bautista secures third, and Locatelli hangs on to fourth ahead of Iannone.

Then it's Gardner, Vierge, Bassani, van der Mark completing the top-nine. Lecuona completes the top-10.

11:16
Lowes crash

Alex Lowes has crashed while trying to pass Locatelli for fourth at turn one on the final lap. He's rejoined but down in P15.

11:15
Lap 9/10

Half-a-second for Razgatlioglu over Bulega onto the final lap, that might be enough to be safe.

Bautista just escaping from Locatelli in third as well, a few tenths between them with one to go.

11:13
Lap 8/10

Onto the penultimate lap and Bulega is still putting the pressure on Razgatlioglu, but he can't get close enough to pass yet.

Locatelli in a similar situation with Bautista, just can't find a way through, although he's also under pressure for P4 from Lowes, then Iannone.

11:12
Rea OUT

Jonathan Rea has crashed out at turn seven. He's up and okay but that's his podium battle over.

11:10
Lap 6/10

Only 0.2s between the leaders with 4 to go. Game on for the win, no doubt.

Bautista still holding third from Locatelli and Rea.

Vierge has dropped to P7 behind Lowes.

11:09
Lap 5/10

Bulega closes in at the front, new lap record from him.

11:07
Lap 4/10

Still that half-second or so between the leaders.

Same situation as yesterday behind Bautista, a train behind him.

Rea passed by Locatelli at turn one on lap five.

11:06
Lap 3/10

Razgatlioglu pulling away at the front now, 0.5s clear entering lap four.

Bautista still third ahead of Rea, then Locatelli, Vierge the only rider on the SCQ tyre, and Lowes.

11:04

Rea was briefly third, but Bautista passed him again on the front straight.

11:04
Battle continues

Razgatlioglu runs wide at turn six, Bulega cuts through on the inside, Razgatlioglu comes back at turn seven.

Bulega tries again at turn nine but Razgatlioglu holds it at turn 10.

11:03
Razgatlioglu leads

Razgatlioglu leads at turn one on lap two.

11:02
Lap 1/10

Bulega leads the opening lap. Razgatlioglu second after he passed Bautista at turn six. Top-two already escaping from P3 Bautista who is under pressure now from Rea, who passed Locatelli at turn nine.

11:01

Contact between Lowes and Locatelli at turn four drops the Bimota back to sixth behind Rea, Locatelli unimpeded and stays fourth.
