Pictures by Ken Richardson While James Ellison took his first BSB podium in race two at Oulton Park, brother Dean experienced very different fortunes - being left unconscious after smashing into a stationary motorcycle, ruling him out of this weekend's Brands Hatch round.

Bruising and a broken foot sustained during a spectacular collision with Tom Sykes' Rizla Suzuki in race two at Thruxton was aggravated by heavy accidents in both races at last Monday's Oulton Park round.

While James Ellison revelled in the glory of a maiden Bennetts British Superbike Championship podium finish, the Oulton Park weekend proved to be one of mixed emotions for Hydrex Bike Animal Honda team-mate Guy Martin.

HM Plant Honda rider Leon Haslam has been excluded from the second Bennetts British Superbike Championship race at Oulton Park following his incident with Tom Sykes while dicing for victory.

The Rob Mac Racing Yamaha rider was hit by the 170kg Superbike - travelling in excess of 120mph - after Rizla's Tom Sykes fell in front him following contact with Leon Haslam. The race was stopped immediately to care for Harris who remarkably escaped serious injury.
Brogan wins close Supersport scrap.
After a lengthy pace car period, a thoroughly absorbing Fuchs British Supersport race was eventually won by HM Plant Honda rider Steve Brogan after a race long scrap with Glen Richards on the British Triumph.
Sykes crash causes BSB race two stoppage.
The crash happened in the early stages of the race as the Rizla Suzuki rider Tom Sykes was trying to make progress through the field.
Haslam, Crutchlow right there in all conditions.
The Honda pair were right on the pace in the tricky wet/dry conditions at Thruxton today. Haslam will start alongside pole setter Byrne with Crutchlow completing the front row in fourth position.
Suzuki on target after early sessions
Sykes has continued the good form he showed at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago with top five placings in both free practice sessions so far.

Burns 'happy for the first time in years'.
The high speed Hampshire circuit will be a tough test for the presently underpowered F312RR, but Warwick Nowland's team is targeting a top three Cup finish for rider Chris Burns.
Emmett in for Plater at Thruxton.
38-year-old Emmett will also be competing in the Henderson R1 Cup over the same weekend, so will be getting in plenty of miles on a slick shod Yamaha at the super-fast Hampshire circuit.

Riders respond to Brands cancellation.
The event was officially called off at 11.15am by race director Stuart Higgs and has been rescheduled for May 10-11.
Brands Hatch abandoned.
Extensive snowfalls at Brands Hatch this morning have caused the opening event of BSB 2008 to be abandoned.
Heavy snow at Brands.
Racing looks unlikely at Brands Hatch today as the Kent circuit and much of the area surrounding the capital has been hit by heavy snowfall. The conditions look unlikely to allow racing to commence and an announcement is expected shortly.

Buckingham hoping hard 'graft' pays off.
The Devon rider has a new bike for his Quay Garage Racing team, and has also gone under the knife in an effort to finally cure his ankle problems caused by a huge accident at Oulton Park in 2006.

After running a competition throughout the three-day official test weekend, one lucky fan won the prize to unveil the new livery alongside Harris and in front of the assembled teams, media and fellow spectators.

Rob Mac Racing is to give one lucky spectator the chance to unveil the exciting new Karl Harris Superbike at the official Bennetts British Superbike Test at Snetterton on Easter Monday.
