It appears that the proposed Honda F1 works effort will come to nought, with the Japanese company supplying engines to existing teams instead.

Although it has yet to be confirmed officially, Honda/Mugen engines are likely to find their way into next season's Jordan and British American chassis. It is not yet known what badge or specification of engine each team will receive, and the supply could still appear under the Mugen subsidiary name, as is the case at Jordan this year.

The death, last week, of F1 project leader Harvey Postlethwaite is not thought to have influenced the decision which, it is said, was taken last week, but may have affected the ability of the team to progress as intended.
