Hamidy leaves Jordan - it's official.

Jordan Grand Prix has announced today [Wednesday] that Technical Director Eghbal Hamidy has left the Silverstone based team.

Jordan released the following brief statement:

"Jordan Grand Prix wishes to announce that Eghbal Hamidy, former Technical Director, has officially left the company."

"This decision was reached amicably and neither party wishes to make any further comment."

Hamidy's future had been the subject of media speculation for a number of weeks and the Iranian-born engineer was first rumoured to be on his way out when he failed to appear at the Australian Grand Prix. The official line then was that he was on 'holiday'.

It is believed that Hamidy's role will be taken over by Henri Durand, who joined Jordan Grand Prix in March as 'Director of Design and Development'.

Hamidy has worked for a number of F1 teams including WilliamsF1, Stewart Grand Prix and Arrows.
