Renault sets 2020 F1 car launch date

Renault has confirmed the launch date for its 2020 Formula 1 car ahead of the new season.

In a post to its social media channels on Wednesday, Renault announced its season launch event would be taking place on February 12, accompanied by the tagline: “Shared passion. One vision.”

It follows a similar announcement last year where the team’s season launch included the unveiling of its new car for the 2019 season.

Renault becomes the fourth team to set its launch date for the 2020 season, following Ferrari (February 11), McLaren (February 13) and AlphaTauri (February 14).

The event is set to take place in Paris, France, where the Renault R.S.20 car will be unveiled to the world.

Renault will enter the new season aiming to bounce back from a difficult 2019 campaign that saw it fail to bridge the gap to the leading three teams, instead slipping from fourth to fifth place in the constructors’ standings behind McLaren.

The biggest change at Enstone over the winter is the arrival of former Mercedes junior Esteban Ocon, who replaces Nico Hulkenberg in its race line-up. Ocon will partner seven-time grand prix winner Daniel Ricciardo, who enters his second season with the team.

Renault has also restructured its technical department following the departure of technical director Nick Chester after 19 years at the team.

The new F1 season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix on March 15.
