Romain Grosjean has called on Formula 1 bosses to focus on giving drivers better quality tyres in the future as part of the planned changes for the sport, calling it “one of the big problems” at present.
"Don't let the spring valve aspect of the Honda Production MotoGP bike scare you. That thing's gonna be fast as hell. I've heard some numbers and compared to the prototypes, there's not much difference" - Colin Edwards.
"Our 'model' for motorcycle control tyres needs a very close specification between road and racing and this is not the case in MotoGP. But if MotoGP were to accept this, why not?" - Giorgio Barbier, Pirelli.
"We held a farewell party for Casey Stoner after Valencia. When the party was over, the two of us stayed on, chatting, and I found I couldn't control my tears... Everyday Casey came up with something new that astonished us" - Shuhei Nakamoto (Honda).
"Bridgestone has decided to supply riders with special construction rear tyres at Mugello as a safeguard against excessively high tyre temperatures" - Hiroshi Yamada.
"...these factors contributed to an increase in the potential for higher rear tyre temperatures and when combined with certain bike set-ups and riding styles, resulted in excessive heat build-up that caused tread chunking of some rider's rear tyres."
'We have commenced a full investigation into the matter and I will personally take the affected tyres back to Bridgestone's Technical Centre in Japan where they will undergo detailed analysis to determine the cause of this issue' - Shinichi Yamashita, General Manager, Bridgestone Tyre Development
"Hopefully we can go there, be competitive and avoid any injury like last year when I hurt my neck, which still causes me problems now" - Casey Stoner.
"We knew from when we first tested those tyres that it just wasn't going to work with our bike. We told Bridgestone, everybody from the beginning. But they didn't seem to care" - Casey Stoner.
