24 Hours of Le Mans LIVE: Race updates as BMW, Cadillac, Toyota battle for lead

Live updates from the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans

KEY MOMENTS

The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans begins today, Saturday 13 June, with BMW starting on pole for the first time in the top class.

The world's most famous 24-hour race will host its 94th edition this weekend, as 186 drivers across 62 cars and three classes battle for victory.

The 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will see BMW start on pole for the first time, after a dramatic Hyperpole session on Thursday evening.

The No.15 WRT-run BMW crew of Kevin Magnussen, Raffele Marciello and Dries Vanthoor, inherited pole after the No.38 Hertz Team Jota Cadillac of Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais had their pole time cancelled post-session.

The No.38 Cadillac was dropped to 10th on the grid.

Last year's Le Mans-winning customer Ferrari AF Corse entry - the No.83 car - driven by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson was the big shock of qualifying, as it failed to get into Hyperpole.

The No.83 car will defend its Le Mans crown from 17th on the grid.

Ferrari only got one car into the final part of Hyperpole on Thursday night, with the No.51 car of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovonazzi a best of eighth on the grid.

The Scuderia will be aiming for its fourth successive 24 Hours of Le Mans win this weekend, but will face stiff competition from a Hypercar field that looks wide open.

2026 24 Hours of Le Mans schedule

Race start - 3pm BST, 13 June

Race finish - 3pm BST, 14 June

13 Jun 2026
18:07

The No.20 BMW pits from the lead. That might work really well because of the FCY.

18:06
Full Course Yellow

We have a full course yellow with 20hrs54m to go.

Seems to be some debris on track.

18:05

In the LMP2 class, the No.30 Duqueine car of Verschoor continues to lead by 24.3s.

In LMGT3, the No.92 Manthey Porsche of Ayhancan Guvan is leading.

18:04

Jaminet has been given a reprimand for a pitstop infringement, but not clear what that was.

The No.15 BMW and the No.50 Ferrari are in the pits.

18:02

Toyota has just put one new tyre - the right rear - on that car.

18:01

Toyota has pitted the No.7 Toyota of Nyck de Vries because of that puncture. So, that car is now even more out of sync than it was on that offset strategy.

18:00

That's the end of the third hour and the No.20 BMW leads still as the No.38 Cadillac has just pitted.

18:00
Toyota - puncture

The No.7 Toyota has a slow rear puncture.

17:59

Great battle for fourth here between the No.51 Ferrari and the No.101 WTR Cadillac.

17:57

The lead gap is down to 3.5s between the No.20 and the No.38.

17:57

The No.50 Ferrari has pitted from eighth.

17:54

Aitken has wiped a lot of time out of that lead gap. He's just 4.8s down on the No.20 BMW of Sheldon van der Linde.

17:53

Jaminet pits in the Genesis. Let's see if they can do anything to fix that vibration.

17:52

The No.35 Alpine is in the pits.

17:52

Aitken is flying here in the No.38 Cadillac. He could be on for a fastest lap if the traffic works out.

17:51

Meanwhile, the No.19 Genesis of Mathieu Jaminet is complaining about vibration issues.

17:51

The No.38 is now 7.8s behind the No.20 BMW.

17:49

The No.83 AF Corse Ferrari isn't looking like a car that can defend its Le Mans victory right now. It's currently 13th with Robert Kubica behind the wheel, 55.5s off the lead.

17:48

Intriguing battle developing here in Hypercar, as the No.38 Cadillac is beginning to close down the No.20 BMW. The gap is about 8.9s just now.

17:45

The No.8 Toyota is in from the lead. The No.20 BMW is back in fron now.

17:45

The other Manthey Porsche, the No.91, had just got up to second in LMGT3 but has pitted. However, not all is lost for Porsche in this race!

17:43

There are only two cars in the entire field not on the lead lap in their class: those are the No.92 Manthey Porsche and the No.61 Iron Lynx Mercedes.

Both are three laps down after separate issues.

17:42

The No.7 is back in the pits for a stop on that offset strategy, so the No.8 will be in next time around and the No.20 will cycle back into the lead.

17:41

The stewards have given the No.50 Ferrari a warning for that collision with the No.30 LMP2 leader.
