MotoGP Brazil race reaction LIVE: Bezzecchi leads Aprilia 1-2 after dramatic Sunday

Live updates from the race at the 2026 Brazilian MotoGP at Goiania, the second round of the 2026 season.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Bezzecchi leads
  • Race distance cut from 31 laps to 23
  • Moreira expecting a long race
  • Marc Marquez seeking double after sprint win

Live coverage of Sunday's 2026 Brazilian MotoGP at Goiania, where the premier class race is due to start at 15:00 local time.

Fabio Di Giannantonio starts on pole for only the second time in his MotoGP career today, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez.

It was a battle between Di Giannantonio and Marquez in the Sprint over 15 laps, but today's 31-lap race is the longest - in terms of the number of laps - of the season.

Bezzecchi, on the other hand, was fourth yesterday after running wide at turn 10, but topped Warm Up this morning and was the only rider to lap faster than 1m18s.

Jorge Martin is without a grand prix podium for Aprilia so far but he took his first Sprint podium aboard the RS-GP yesterday and seems to be growing in confidence aboard the bike. He starts from the second row today and should be in the podium battle once again.

Fabio Quartararo has been having a strong weekend on the Yamaha, finishing sixth in the Sprint yesterday after qualifying fourth.

Ai Ogura, too, has been solid this weekend on the Trackhouse Aprilia, qualifying sixth yesterday and finishing fifth behind the two factory RS-GPs. It's a stark contrast with his teammate, Raul Fernandez, who hasn't finished a session in the top-10 yet in Brazil after taking two podiums in Thailand and coming into this weekend third in the championship.

Speaking of the championship, the gap at the top of the standings is down to two points between Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta after yesterday, Acosta finishing only ninth. He was the only KTM to score points yesterday and the other RC16s start from the back three positions on the grid.

Bezzecchi: "I pushed myself over the limit"

Bezzecchi says he pushed "over the limit" to recover his Brazilian GP weekend after finishing 20th in Practice on Friday.

"Not bad," Bezzecchi told the MotoGP world feed.

"I'm very happy.

"It was a tough weekend, it was super-tough on Friday, we started in a bad way and it was difficult to keep the motivation super-high. But the guys did a wonderful job and I also pushed myself over the limit to try to compensate everything I could and at the end we found the way to make the bike in a fantastic way.

"I adjusted some details on my riding and from this morning I felt better, so I said 'Okay, maybe I can try to fight'. It was an amazing race, I'm super-happy."

Bezzecchi wins in Brazil

It's four wins in a row for Marco Bezzecchi, he adds Brazil to his win streak.

Martin makes it an Aprilia 1-2, and Di Giannantonio holds of Marquez to take third - brilliant ride from the VR46 rider.

Marquez fourth, then Ogura, Alex Marquez, Acosta, Aldeguer, Zarco, and Fernandez complete the top-10.

Final lap

A mistake from Martin on lap 21 means Bezzecchi leads by 3s onto the final lap.

Martin still way clear of Di Giannantonio, 1.2s to be precise. Marquez has one lap to step back onto the podium, and it looks like it's Di Giannantonio with better grip.

18:29
Lap 20/23

Di Giannantonio back to third with now three laps to go, so there go any hopes of second for either of them - Martin now 2.5s clear.

Marquez ran wide at turn 12, that opened the door.

18:27
Marquez P3

Marquez has finally made his move on Di Giannantonio. Passes on the inside at turn six. It's late, there's contact, but it's clean enough.

Four laps now for Marquez to close a now 1.7s gap to Martin.

18:26
Lap 18/23

Martin starting to drop slightly. Gap down to 1.3s between himself and Di Giannantonio with five to go. He's 2.2s off the lead.

18:23
Lap 16/23

Bezzecchi now maintaining two seconds over Martin, who is now over 1.5s clear of Di Giannantonio.

Marquez still right there with the VR46 rider, but yet to find a way through.

18:22

Acosta starting to drop back now, he's down to seventh behind Ogura. He switched to the soft rear after the distance change. Marini also made that switch and is 11th after starting 19th.

18:21
Lap 14/23

Pace seems about even, on average, between the two Aprilias - Martin can't get closer than 1.6s so far.

Martin now over a second clear of Di Giannantonio, who is still just about holding off Marquez with now nine laps to go.

18:18

Martin has pulled away from Di Giannantonio by almost a second now, and Marquez is increasing the pressure on the Italian.

18:18
Lap 12/23

Bezzecchi set the fastest lap of the race on lap 11 an at the end of lap 12 his advantage is back out to 1.7s.

18:16

Joan Mir has crashed out as well.

It was turn one for Bagnaia but turn four for Mir.

18:16
Lap 10/23

1.6s over the line for Bezzecchi, Martin a bit faster than him that time. Di Giannantonio still able to go in the 1m18s.

Bagnaia has crashed out.

18:14
Lap 9/23

Martin a tenth faster on that lap but both Aprilias in the 1m18s.

Di Giannantonio hasn't been completely dropped yet and neither of course has Marquez.

18:13
Lap 8/23

Bezzecchi back into the 1m18s that lap and he holds Martin at bay.

18:11
Lap 7/23

Bezzecchi 2s clear of Martin but his teammate consistently a bit faster. Bezzecchi into the 1m19s now.

18:10
Aprilia 1-2

Di Giannantonio tried to pass Marquez at turn four, and made it stick. But they both ran wide and Martin passed them both.

18:09
Lap 5/23

Bezzecchi and Martin the only riders in the 1m18s on that lap and Bezzecchi now over 1.5s clear.
