Marc Marquez finishes a dominant 0.474s clear of the field in FP1 at Sepang.
Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta set the same lap time as best of the rest.
Jorge Martin finally removes his gloves and helmet, that's the session over for the Aprilia rider with one minute to go.
Martin has been pushed back to 20th but is still 1.8s from title rival Marc Marquez.
Pedro Acosta makes a great save when he loses the front while trying to chase Marc Marquez through the final corner.
Jorge Martin climbs to 16th place, 1.8s behind Marc Marquez.
However, he then runs wide at Turn 1.
"Raul Fernandez, having started Free Practice 1, in Sepang, has found that the injury to his right index finger (fractured in the course of his Turn 1 crash in the Indonesia Sprint race) is preventing him from riding properly. Following an immediate medical assessment with the Championship Medical Director he has been declared unfit to take any further part in the Grand Prix of Malaysia."
Riders head back out for the final ten minutes of FP1 with Marc Marquez still almost half a second clear of the field.

Jorge Martin pits after his second run, having improved to 19th place, 2.3s from Marc Marquez.
Some riders - including the KTMs, last year's race winners Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia - are now trying the hard rear tyre (the medium from last year).
MotoGP pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard confirms that Raul Fernandez is out of the Malaysian Grand Prix after just five laps of FP1.
Jorge Martin heads out for his second run.
He's now 22nd and last, still 3.9s behind Marc Marquez.
Aprilia team-mate Marco Bezzecchi in second and KTM's Pedro Acosta third.
However, don't forget the 'best' tyre compound (the soft rear) is not being used at the moment.
Aprilia team manager Paolo Bonora tells MotoGP pit lane reporter Jack Appleyard it's "not easy" for Jorge Martin, but that he's "managing in a good way".
"The key now is how the wrist feels after more laps," Bonora adds.
Aprilia's other injured rider Raul Fernandez was seen running wide at turn one as he struggles to brake with his fractured finger.
Fernandez then walks out of the pits.
That could be it for the Trackhouse rider.

Jorge Martin is debriefing to his team with the microphone. It looks like business as usual for now, and he's set to continue the session.
