Podium for Suzuki

Despite a crash for Dan Linfoot early on, Suzuki finishes on the podium courtesy of the Yoshimura team.

11:39
Second for Yamaha

Yamaha comes 35s of victory, but second-place is still an impressive result for the Iwata-based marque on its factory return

11:35
Honda wins

Johann Zarco brings the No. 30 Honda home to win the Suzuka 8 Hours!

It's the second win in a row for him and teammate Takahashi as well as the fourth in succession for Honda.

For Takahashi, it's his seventh victory in total, while Honda has now extended its record to 31 wins!

11:19
Honda inching near victory

Zarco is cruising under the lights at Suzuka and is on course to repeat his win from 2024

11:00
40s

With the pitstops now complete, Zarco leads the race by just under 40s from Miller. It will take a miracle for Yamaha to win the race now.  Honda's fuel efficiency has been the deciding factor in the race.

10:57
Jack Miller takes over

Andrea Locatelli brings the No. 21 Yamaha into the pits to hand over to Jack Miller.

It's going to be a straight fight between Johann Zarco and Jack Miller in the final 30 minutes of the race.

10:55
Restart

Locatelli leads the race from Zarco as the race resumes. Locatelli still needs to pit for fuel and a possible rider change, so it's still advantage Honda.

10:50

The sun has set at Suzuka and it is getting darker in some parts of the track. We are still behind the safety car, with only the No. 21 Yamaha and No. 30 Honda running on the lead lap.

10:47
Yamaha into the lead!

Zarco is finally allowed to rejoin the track and TV screen shows him running in second place, behind Locatelli. This is huge!

10:45
Red light for Zarco

Zarco is held up at the pit exit due to a red light.

10:44
Takahashi pits under SC

Takahashi has brought the No. 30 into the pits under the safety car. Zarco will finish the race.

10:42
Safety car

Drama in the Suzuka 8 Hours as the safety car is back out on track with just under 50 minutes to go. The race-leading No. 30 Honda is yet to pit

10:39
Yoshimura Suzuki pits

With Yoshimura Suzuki coming into the pits with just over 50 minutes to go, the team wouldn't need to do a splash and dash towards the end of the race. A podium might still be on the cards for Suzuki.

10:34
One hour to go!

With just an hour to go into the race, here is how the order looks like at the front of the field

  1. No. 30 Honda
  2. No. 21 Yamaha
  3. No. 73 Honda
  4. No. 1 Suzuki
  5. No. 37 BMW
  6. No. 40 Honda
  7. No. 76 BMW
  8. No. 11 Kawasaki
  9. No. 88 Honda
10:25
Takahashi still out

The No. 30 Honda is still circulating at the front of the field. It would be interesting to see how many more laps Takahashi can eke out in this stint, as it could determine whether the team would need a splash and dash towards the end to finish the race.

10:02
Pitstop at Yamaha

Nakasuga heads into the pits, with Locatelli now aboard the factory Yamaha. This suggests Miller will take over for the final stint.

10:01
New fastest lap

Takumi Takahashi has set the fastest lap of the race, a 2m06.670s, to pull further clear in front.

09:59
Honda clear in front

The safety car was supposed to be Yamaha's best chance to overhaul Honda, but Takahashi has pulled away by nine seconds already while Nakasuga has struggled in traffic.

09:52
Restart

Takahashi retains the net lead ahead of Nakasuga but both are having to pass lapped cars at the restart.

09:50

It's important to know there are a few lapped bikes between race leader Takahashi and second-placed Nakasuga. In fact, Takahashi is not even the first bike behind the safety car.

09:48

This safety car will help teams save some fuel and potentially a splash and dash towards the end of the race.
