Here are the results of Crash.net's poll asking which MotoGP bike of the four-stroke era you would choose to ride, if given the chance to try just one.

Two bikes stood head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of capturing your soul: The triple title-winning V5-powered 990cc RC211V headed the list with 31.1% of the vote, followed closely by the multi-race-winning 990cc Ducati Desmosedici on 29.5%.

The 990cc Yamaha M1, which Valentino Rossi won the world championship with in 2004 and 2005, was only third best (16.6%), although Yamaha can claim to have built the most desirable of the 800cc bikes.

But the 800cc M1, in fourth place, only gained 7.2% of the vote, sending a clear signal that the smaller machines just haven't had the same 'wow' factor for fans.

To underline that point, no manufacturer received more votes for their 800 than their 990.

Almost 4,000 votes were cast. The full list is as follows...
