Proton Team KR rider Jurgen van den Goorbergh will start tomorrow's German GP from a disappointing 13th position on the fourth row of the grid, after circumstances threw up a dilemma for the Dutch rider of the lightweight three-cylinder Proton KR3.

Further to the earlier story that Chris Walker was to miss the German Grand Prix for health reasons, it now transpires that the British rider has been stood down by his Shell Advance Honda team.

Clarke receives call-up in maths class.
Brendan Clarke, a Year 12 student at St Francis College in Brisbane, Australia, received the shock invitation on Tuesday to join Jeff Hardwick's Shell Advance Honda team as a replacement for Chris Walker at this weekends German Grand Prix, after the Englishman was controversially dropped.

Shell advance Honda rider Chris Walker endured a difficult home Grand Prix at Donington Park, the Englishman having been hospitalised just a week earlier after a huge crash at Assen.

Vincent: It's been a hell of a weekend.
Jason Vincent, filling in for the injured Garry McCoy on the Red Bull Yamaha YZR500, scored his first points in the premiere class after finishing 13th at his home MotoGP, following bar-to-bar battles with Haslam, West and Walker.

Daijiro Katoh matched Rossi's performance in the 250s on Sunday, taking his sixth win from eight races in runaway style, despite a mistake that had him off the track at one point.

No spark for Harada.
Pole sitter Tetsuya Harada's challenge for victory in Sunday's 250cc Grand Prix ended with a broken spark plug. The ceramic part of the 'plug' in Harada's v-twin Aprilia was damaged, robbing the Japanese star of vital revs, horsepower and any chance of victory.

'Samurai of Slide' back on the power.
The man who caught everybody napping in Sunday's 500cc British grand Prix, was Red Bull Yamaha's Noriyuki Haga the former Superbike star riding like the 'Samurai of Slide' of old.

Van den Goorbergh gutted.
Proton Team KR rider Jurgen van den Goorbergh will start tomorrow's British GP from fifth, the Dutch rider's best qualifying position this year on the lightweight three-cylinder Proton KR3 - but he was still angry and disappointed.

Nakano the star of the day at Donington.
The big surprise of today's final qualifying session was the performance of Japanese Yamaha rider Shinya Nakano - who went faster on the damp track than he had in the dry yesterday, on his very last lap.

Rossi: That was a very fast crash.
World Championship leader Valentino Rossi had a difficult first day at a cloudy Donington, crashing at high speed and ending the session 11th.

Jeremy McWilliams' win at the Dutch TT ended a 15-year wait without a British rider taking a GP win in any of the solo classes of the Motorcycle World Championship.

No risk McCoy back for Sachsenring.
Australian Garry McCoy has delayed his comeback by at least another two grand prix after testing the strength of his injured wrist in Assen on Thursday. He broke his left wrist in a practice crash at le Mans in France six weeks ago after leading the opening qualifying session.

Ukawa: "I didn't ride a good race."
Tohru Ukawa took a solid eighth-place finish in his 500 debut at GP racing's most complex track, but wasn't happy.

Criville crashes out of Assen.
Alex Criville completed a difficult weekend at Assen with a fourth-lap tumble. The Spaniard was on the charge when he fell while fighting to make contact with the lead group.
Brit Vincent gets works Yamaha for Donington.
Jay Vincent will ride the spare Red Bull Yamaha YZR500 at Donington Park this coming weekend, as regular pilot Garry McCoy misses the British MotoGP with a broken wrist.

Biaggi wins as rain stops play at Assen.
With five laps to go the 500cc Dutch GP was shaping up for yet another thrilling battle between Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi, but then 'out of the blue' the red flags came out, giving Biaggi his second win of the season with 75% of the race distance completed.

Capirossi: The last laps never came.
Loris Capirossi started today's race from a pole position secured with the fastest ever lap of the Assen circuit but had to work hard to stay with his rivals, and ultimately the Italian only led one lap.

Replacement rider for Red Bull at Donington.
Red Bull Yamaha's team Manager Peter Clifford has announced that a replacement rider will pilot the injured Garry McCoy's machine at next Sunday's British Grand Prix at Donington.
