For AMA Superbike champion and MotoGP rookie Nicky Hayden, Saturday was a day of frustrations, as he was deprived of a second chance to break into the top echelons of the starting grid.

Still upbeat about his MotoGP debut, the Repsol Honda rider explained his qualifying ups and downs.

For AMA Superbike champion and MotoGP rookie Nicky Hayden, Saturday was a day of frustrations, as he was deprived of a second chance to break into the top echelons of the starting grid.

Still upbeat about his MotoGP debut, the Repsol Honda rider explained his qualifying ups and downs.

"It's been a pretty weird weekend so far," said the Kentuckian. "Not one session has been the same - it's been wet, dry and everything in between and I've had a fourth gear crash. This morning was actually pretty good, the bike was quite stable in the rain and I was putting in some pretty good lap times.

"We've got a pre-race warm-up tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be dry. When the bell rings I'll just have to try to get a good start! It's been a long time since I started a race from the sixth row," added Nicky.
