Some of the world's fastest race drivers will swap the environment of their high-powered V8 Supercars for the pleasant surrounds of Parramatta Park in Sydney this weekend.
Holden V8 Supercar heroes Greg Murphy, Steve Richards and Cameron McConville will line-up alongside Ford's David Besnard, Steve Johnson and Max Wilson at Parramatta Park from 9am to 1pm.
The appearances will be part of a unique family day being used as the public launch of the VIP Petfoods Main Event which will be held as the last round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Eastern Creek Raceway on November 28-30 - and admission is free!
The V8 Supercar stars will join with Triple M sporting celebrities in a fantastic pre-event promotion designed for fans of all ages.
Triple M's highly successful Dead Set Legends show, headed by Rugby League commentator Ray Warren and starring sporting celebrities such as Paul "Fatty" Vautin, Russell Barwick, Anthony Moron and Greg Matthews, will be conducting its first outside broadcast in almost three years.
Johnson, who is the son of five-time national touring car champion Dick Johnson, is looking forward to the meet and greet with Sydney fans.
"There is no doubt that the family day in Parramatta Park is a fantastic idea," said Johnson, who drives the number 17 Shell Helix Racing Falcon. "I think taking our sport to the people like this is very important.
"The VIP Petfoods Main Event is shaping as one of the biggest events of the year. It is more than likely that the championship will still be up for grabs at Eastern Creek.
"There will be something for everyone this Saturday, whether you are a Holden or Ford fan and I am looking forward to signing a few autographs and mixing with the fans."
The day at Parramatta Park will include V8 Supercars and transporters, the Audi pace cars and a host of activities provided by the 'Life Be In It' campaign including earth balls, arts and crafts, an animal farm and face painting.
There will also be a troop of performing dogs, all powered up on VIP Petfood.
"The interest in the family day has been fantastic and we are expecting a big crowd on Saturday," said AVESCO Event's Shane Howard. "It is great that so many of our V8 Supercar stars will be on hand to sign autographs and have a chat about their sport."
