BOC makes rare top ten appearance.

Team BOC owner-driver Brad Jones claimed his first top ten result in a normal-grid race for 2006, after finishing ninth ahead of teammate John Bowe, who struggled amidst the midpack carnage to finish thirteenth.

Driving the #14 Team BOC Falcon, veteran Jones piloted his blue and white liveried Ford to ninth in the final race, and an encouraging fourteenth outright. Having circulated as high as sixth position mid-race, Jones' car succumbed to rear tyre wear near the end forcing him into defensive-mode and eventually settling for ninth.

"Fantastic! What more can I say. We were able to stay out of all the carnage early in that race and then hold our position in the top ten," said a pleased Jones.

"After such a tough day yesterday and this morning, it's great to get a result for the team in the last race. The guys in the team have put in such a great effort this year and it's good to be able to reward them with a good finish."

"The car is still not great and it would have been good to have been able to fight a bit more at the end of that race. Having said that though; a top ten result, with John not to far behind, is great for the team heading into the endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst."

Jones' teammate John Bowe had another difficult day at the office, that of his #12 Team BOC Ford, however nineteenth outright and twelfth in race three was a good finish for Bowe considering his recent bad luck.

"I think if I had have been able to get around Owen I would have been able to drive around him, but I just didn't have quite enough to pass him without doing something silly," said Bowe.

"It's really good that both Brad and I had a good result today. The team did a fantastic job to get me back out for that third race. The reverse grid race took its toll on my car a bit, but the boys did a great job to repair the Team BOC Falcon so we could get them that result."

Jones and Bowe will drive together at the upcoming Betta Electrical Sandown 500, with Mark Porter and Dale Brede driving the team's second car.
