Bar Unveil New Livery.

British American Racing this morning unveiled the livery that will adorn its cars in the coming season.

Prevented from running dual liveries - advertising the 555 and Lucky Strike tobacco brands - on its cars, BAR has opted for the compromise solution of highlighting both names on each machine. As was widely expected when the original liveries were rejected by the FIA, each 1999 BAR chassis will feature one brand on either side in order to maximise exposure for the sponsors.

(While this design is obviously not our first choice,) said BAR team principal Craig Pollock, (we believe it provides value for our sponsors, and maintains the first class image of the team.)

The new design was unveiled at Silverstone as the Brackley-based team performed its final shakedown test before freighting the cars to Melbourne for the season's first race next weekend. The team will be able to make its debut as originally planned, but have been summoned to appear before the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Friday 12 March.
