HANS made compulsory for 2003.
The World Motor Sport Council has today [Wednesday] declared that HANS (the 'Head and Neck Protection System') will be made compulsory in Formula 1 from the 1st January 2003.
The FIA released the following statement:
The World Motor Sport Council has today [Wednesday] declared that HANS (the 'Head and Neck Protection System') will be made compulsory in Formula 1 from the 1st January 2003.
The FIA released the following statement:
"Following further discussions with DaimlerChrylser AG on the deployment of HANS, the World Motor
Sport Council decided that the system will be made compulsory in Formula One from January 1, 2003."
The HANS device is already in use in America in CART, the IRL and NASCAR.
