22 entries for 2008.
The FIA, Formula One's governing body, confirmed on Friday that it had received 22 entries for the 2008 Formula One world championship. A brief statement posted on the organisation's website read:

Minardi F1x2 season kicks off down under.
The Minardi F1x2 team completed its first event of 2006 on Tuesday, with a successful programme at Mangalore Airport, north of Melbourne.

Dyer: Schumacher just as committed.
Michael Schumacher's race engineer, Chris Dyer has said that he cannot see 'any reason' to indicate that the German is going to quit the sport.

Despite the grief and heartache that he endured while at the helm of Minardi, Paul Stoddart's appetite for Formula One remains undimmed, following confirmation that he has lodged an entry for the 2008 campaign.
Prodrive plays down Fulcrum concerns.
The Prodrive group has revealed that it expected some degree of opposition to its plans for the Fulcrum development at its Honiley site, but insists that the problem is not as bad as some are making out.

Formula One's minnows made steady progress in the second round of the FIA Formula One World Championship in Malaysia, with Scuderia Toro Rosso, MF1 Racing and Super Aguri Racing all proving more closely matched.

Super Aguri F1 boss Aguri Suzuki has confirmed that his team is already working on the replacement for the SA05 in action in Bahrain, but was not able to pinpoint a debut date.

Super Aguri drivers just happy to qualify.
Having propped up the bottom of the timesheets throughout practice, there was no surprise when Super Aguri were eliminated in the first round of qualifying, although the problems for Kimi Raikkonen does mean that both cars won't be on the back row.

Juan Pablo Montoya saved McLaren's qualifying session after Kimi Raikkonen's spectacular exit with a suspension failure, as the Colombian took fifth place on the grid, behind the Ferraris, Jenson Button's Honda and world champion Fernando Alonso.

Toyota struggle as RBR, BMW and Williams impress.
