Peterson/White Lightning making GT comeback

In what has become a stunning Porsche battle for the LM GT title at the 24 Heures Du Mans, Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing currently sits in third, two laps out of the class lead despite dominating the opening half of the race.

The early domination of the No. 90 Westward Ho Casino/ MMPIE/ PAWS/ mail2web.com/ Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR came to an end when Jorg Bergmeister suffered a broken transmission shifter cable in the tenth hour. The repairs set the team back two laps and out of the lead.

A second repair job for the throttle cable cost the team additional laps. Drivers Sascha Maassen, Bergmeister and Patrick Long are fighting to reclaim the top-spot that was un-attestable to others in the early going of the 72nd Annual 24 Heures Du Mans.

Maassen earned the all-time GT class race lap when he turned a four minute, 6.306 second lap while putting together a string of sub 4.7 minute laps of the 8.6-mile circuit.

Maassen's double-stint was turned-over to Bergmeister who continues to take chunks out of the lead of the team's rival Porsche 911 GT3 RSR competitors. Long will take the seat of the Porsche following Bergmeister's double stint.
