After barely missing out on the top privateer billing last year to Nick Wey (#27), his new teammate, Voss has focused on designing a new programme that will prepare him physically and mentally for the 2003 season.
Nick Wey will join Mach 1 in 2003 aboard a factory-supported YZ250 for Supercross and a factory-supported YZ450F for the National series. Wey will start the season with the momentum he built as the top privateer in his rookie year at the 250cc level of Supercross competition.
"I want to be a winner, and I know I have it in me. I'm really excited to be with Mach 1 Motorsports and with Yamaha. I'll do whatever it takes to get the job done," expressed the confident Nick Wey.
The Michigan rider comes into 2003 with his sights set on the podium and believes he now has the experience under his belt to make the move towards the podium. Wey had 13 top ten finishes last year aboard his YZ250 despite having to overcome a mid season knee injury. He is now looking forward to a healthy and successful year.
Heath Voss completed the 2002 EA Sports Supercross Series finishing 10th overall and placed in the top ten several times. His top finish was sixth at Round 8 in Atlanta.
In the US Chevy Trucks Outdoor Motocross Series, Voss finished 11th overall with his best finish being eighth at Budds Creek. Voss rode for MACH 1 Motorsports during the outdoor nationals and showed steady and consistent results last season, posting his best ever overall rankings.
After competing with the world's best for seven years, Voss has established himself as a top contender. Voss, who was originally from Minnesota, now calls Mico, Texas his home.
Mach 1 Motorsports owners Greg Holbrook and Jeff Leggitt have supported Motocross, Road racing and Karting heavily in the Bay Area for the last six years, and they now are focusing on representing Northern California nationally.
