The Motocross GP paddock will be making space for a new team in 2003 with the news that the Kawasaki Satellite Racing Team has been created by world famous motocross guru, Jan de Groot [pictured with his 2002 125cc World Champion Mickael Maschio] and rookie manager Glen Dempsey, backed by Kawasaki Europe.

Jan's string of world titles and Glen's recent successes in managing young talented rider's have one thing in common: "The Kawasaki Satellite Racing Team is here to guide talented hopefuls into becoming future world champions."

Kawasaki Satellite Racing has contracted two 18-year-old South Africans in the form of Wyatt Avis and Jarrett de Jager for 2003. The team feels both riders have the speed, talent and ability to produce top ten GP results.

Avis was vice-champion in the 125cc European Championship last year, after losing his 24 point lead in a freak accident, while practicing a few days before the last round in Ukraine.

Bonenberg Racing Team has released Avis into the care of the new Kawasaki Satellite Racing setup and will continue to support Wyatt and the new team.

"I am really excited with the new setup. Jan will be tuning our bikes and Glen will be managing everything else. I can't wait to get back to Europe and start racing!" enthused Avis.

De Jager is no new comer to the GP scene. After qualifying for GP's at the age of 15 and obtaining two Dutch Championship podiums next to Langston and de Reuver at the same age, he also posted a well deserved 10th at the Czech GP last year.

"I am happy to be involved with a professional team. I know that Glen and Jan will do their best to help me achieve my goals this season," stated de Jager.

The Team will be based at MD-trucks in Breda, Holland; a region known as the epicentre of the European motocross world. The premises include a state of the art workshop with living quarters for riders and mechanics. MD-trucks will be supporting the team as one of their major sponsors.
