KTM mounted Marc De Reuver proved that he is a true all round racer after taking his first win of the season on the hard surface of Teutschenthal, Germany.

The Dutch sand specialist took over the race lead from four stroke Italian Yamaha rider Andrea Bartolini on lap three. De Reuver romped away to an easy victory moving to the top of the points table with a single point advantage over Belgian Steve Ramon.

"I knew that Andrea [Bartolini] would be the hardest rider to pass on this type of ground, once I was in front I knew I had total control of the race," stated Marc. "I have proved the critics that I am an all round rider capable of riding on any ground.

"I was consistent today and did not make any errors and this factor allowed me to win," he added. "I have to thank all of my team for this first GP win!"

Reigning World Champion Mickael Maschio came over the line in second position having slipped to 3rd with two laps to go.

Then petite Frenchman made a do or die move on Bartolini in the very last corner, a steep downhill, he took a big dive down the inside to pass the Yamaha.

"We didn't make contact but it was close, it was my last chance, I was annoyed that I had let him by the previous lap," explained Maschio. "My wrist was hurting me and was struggling to hold on. I had a disastrous race in Holland where I failed to score any points - I have to make up for that now as every point matters."
