Son of 4 times World Champion Harry Everts, Stefan discovered motorcycle activities when he was a kid, practicing on the GP tracks every monday when the events were over.

He started racing when he was ten, and at sixteen years old he got a factory ride in the Suzuki team, with his father as mechanic. Two years later (1991) he clinched his first 125 title, and moved to the 250 class with Suzuki. Injured in 1992 and twice vice World Champion behind Greg Albertijn, Stefan got his second title in 1995 with team Kawasaki.

Moving to Honda he kept his crown in 1996 and 1997 but failed the following season; French S?bastien Tortelli beats him in the last GP in Greece and took his second title before moving to the US.

Seriously injured in 1999 (broken leg) and 2000 (broken arm) during pre-season events, Stefan had a hard time but recovered physically and mentally with his girl friend Kelly.

Ending his relationship with his personal manager, he terminated his previous contract and moved to the Yamaha Rinaldi squad for the 2001 season. Working again with his father Harry, he started a successful collaboration with Yamaha, clinching so far four titles in a row, two in the 500 class (2001 and 2002), one in the MXGP (2003) and this year in the MX1 class.

Equalling Joel Robert record (50 GP wins) during the GP of Namur in 2001, he counts more success and titles than anyone; with eight titles and 78 GP wins he's the most successful rider and will probably add some more success in the future, as he re-signed with Yamaha for next season.

Father of Liam since the last GP of Namur, Stefan will be leading the Belgian squad at the FOX Motocross of Nations in Lierop. Racing alongside Kevin Strijbos and Steve Ramon, he will try to offer a 14th Chamberlain trophy to Belgium, the most successful country in the history of Motocross.
