International Motor Cross Racing is going to Namibia once again this October. Riders from all over Europe and America as well as southern Africa will converge at the famous Gallina Moto Cross Park outside the capital of Windhuk, on 30th October and November 6th.

The Tafel Lager/Pepsi Inter-Series is known all over the world and is an annual opportunity to come together for two weeks of rivalry, socializing and family-fun.

Eight years ago the concept of this event was created by Bernd Kroemer, received with enthusiasm by the Windhuk Moto Cross Club, in this case one must mention Eckhard Waldschmidt, the President of the WMCC in those days, who strongly supported this endeavour and ever since the "Inter-Series" has grown by leaps and bounds.

The titel "Namibia International Champion" has got a very good reputation all over the world and the winner will also receive a handsome cheque!

The countdown for this years "Tafel Lager/Pepsi Inter Series" has begun and the Windhoek Moto Cross Club is proud to announce top-participants from all corners of this planet.

The latest entry came from Belorussia. It is for the first time that Namibia will host a rider from this part of the world. His name is Tyletsky Yaugeny, he won various Soviet-Titels as well as Belorussian titles and we were informed, that he is a strong rider to reckon with. He is racing in 2005 for the German Bodo Schmidt KTM-Team. The official name of the team is Radiowave -Team Belorussia.

From Germany, ex-German-Champion Gunnar Schuster who once also competed for the Jef Jansen Honda Team at GP-Level, will be taking part. After a severe crash in 2003 Gunnar refrained from competitive racing, but he still is very fast as he proved on various occassions during 2004.

Gunnar gets accompanied by the 2004 German Vice-Champion DAM Andre Adrian. Andre comes for the first time to Namibia and he certainly wants to impress with a good result.

Benjamin Kolberg in the past has won various Regional-Championships and only in 2004 he participated in the German-Championships with mixed results. Bejamin gets accompanied by his Team-Manager Carsten K?lling, an ex-GDR Champion and still going strong. Carsten will represent Germany in the Clubmen's Class. The Germans race under the name Transworld Cargo - German Team.

Mart de Jong from the Elite Security Services - Holland Team, will also be competing. Mart raced the previous year already in Namibia and had the fans on their feet when he relentlessly chased Tyla Rattray. Mart again proved this year that he still is one of the fastest riders in the DAM German Championships by winning the title in the 125cc Class.

The MILO - Estonia Team consists of GP-contender Avo Leok and his nephew Martin Leok. Avo races on a high competive level since about 1995. In 1997 Avo won the GP of Belgium and his best overall result was ninth during the 2002 GP-Campaign.

A hefty crash during the 2004 GP 3 Series sidelined him for the rest of the season, but also robbed him of a podium position. Therefore Avo longs for the "Namibia Internatinal Champion" title as a kind of consolation. His nephew Martin has got the ambition to follow the footsteps of his uncle or perhaps even more, to follow the footsteps of his brother Aigar. A sixth place in the 85cc World championships was an excellent result. Forteen year old Martin will race in 2005 for the Bodo Schmidt Team in Germany.

The Air Namibia - USA Team consists of Carter Gurnee competing in the competitive Open-Class and Keith Weaver in the Clubmen's Class. Carter hails from California and can boast about an excellent season, finishing overall eighth in the AMA four-stroke Championship plus Carter won the Arizona-Championship.

Strong competitors are also found in the Polana - South Africa Team. Multiple SA- Champion Ian Trussler comes to Namibia to win the title. Ian also raced internationally with good results, taking fpurth overall in the British Supercross Championships and represented South Africa at the "Trophy des Nations".

Ryan Williams once was one of the strongest 80cc riders in South Africa, before he switched his bike for a Jet-Ski. In 2002 he returned to MX-racing, in 2004 he did some test rides in England and he for sure is a tough competitor.

Another competitor Geoff Den may be comparatively old but won the SA Championships on many occassions and he represented South Africa in the AMU Championships where he won "Gold" in the years 1999, 2001, 2002 and in 2003.

Beau White is a regular at the Tafel Lager/Pepsi Inter-Series. He finished third overall in 2002 in the SA Championships Veterans-Class and in Namibia he will represent South Africa in the Masters-Class.

He gets accompanied by his old mate Sean Holder who will represent SA in the Clubmen's Class.

In the 50cc Class there will be a little competitor named Johan Vogelsang from South Africa. Wade Den will participate in the highly competitive 65cc Class to challenge the Namibian and Kenyan opposition.

The Allgemeine Zeitung - Botswana Team is very strong this year with Ross Branch wishing to take the title home. Ross loves the Gallina Track, that is where he won most of his titles including the 125cc AMU Africa-Championship.

The young and talented rider, who has raced in Germany for the last two years, will this time around compete in the Open-Class and will, without any doubt, be found up front!

Number two in the AZ-Botswana Team is Alastair Sayer.

Alastair won various Botswana and Zimbabwean Championships, he came overall fifth at the 1999 AMU Africa-Championships plus he's a talented Freestyler. Calvin Collington will represent Botswana in the Quad-Class.

Ian Dykes, riding in the Lerch & Co. - Kenya Team, just turned 10 years old. Ian represented his country Kenya in the AMU-Championships and he won the Botswana Motocross as well as the Botswana-Flattrack title in 2003. At the 2003 Tafel Lager/Pepsi Inter-Series in Namibia Ian finished third overall.

A force to be reckoned with will be Jose Texeira from the Farm Freezer - Angola Team. He participated in the last 5 Inter-Series with mixed results. Jose originally hails from Portugal where he won some Regional-Championships. After his parents moved to Angola it took until 1994 before he started mx-racing again. His best result in the Angolan Championships was a eighth overall. But he can boast about impressive off-road results, he won the "Benguela Raid" three times already. In 2004 Jose participated regularly in the Namibian Moto-X Championships and he stood on the rostrum most of the time.

In the 50cc Class host Namibia, officially called Prosperity Health - Namibia Team, will be represented by Eric Garbers. Eric became runner-up in the 2002 and 2003 Namibian Championships and in 2004 he already won the Championship title with still two races to go.

Mark Sternagel is a hot contender for the 65cc Class title. He also was runner-up the previous year and he's leading the 2004 roster by a margin, which promises exciting racing.

Brannnigan "Animal" Wise is one of he most promising riders ever bred in Namibia. He won the 2003 Eightyfivecc Championships and he's repeating this feat in 2004. He has had many set backs in his career but always comes back with his unperturbed fighting spirit.

The 125cc Class will be represented by Uwe Sternagel. Uwe won the 85cc Class in the years 2000, 2001 and in 2002. In 2003 he won the 125cc Championships and in 2004 he will do the utmost to repeat this feat. Uwe is the only Namibian mx-rider who ever participted in the 85cc World championships, but even more important he represented Namibia at the 2004 Moto GP 2 Class World championships in Sun City, South Africa.

Another rider who once had all the prerequisites to race on GP-Level is Rainer Becker from Gobabis. Rainer will win his eighth Namibian title this year. Despite his age he has not lost his smoothness and fighting spirit. Rainer should make it into the Top-Five at the Tafel Lager/Pepsi Inter-Series. Rainer Becker will represent Namibia in the Open-Class.

Last, but not least the CYMOT Freestyle Team. Five riders have been selected to do their mid-air thing, called Freestyle. For the first time ever in Windhoek, the spectators can witness the ultimate stunt, the "Backflip", performed by "Flying Dutchman" Werner von der Merwe. A big character and showman, he will do the most radical figure, in which he completes one full rotation upon his bike. Werner is a perfectionist and is found on the IFMXF ranking list. He won Top-10 results in Vienna and in Salzburg and came overall seconnd in Woodstock. Ryan "Rude Boy" Ronacher is known for his amazing "Supermans" and combination of tricks. Third in line is Jeff Hodson who is known for supercool "Whips".

Gary Robertson from Verwoerd Park, near Johannesburg will show is unique "Flatliner".

Number Five comes from Botswana, but he performes his tricks all over South Africa and is ranked in fourth spot, Alastair Sayer.

Alastair will perform his excellent and cool "Rodeo to no hander lander". But this boy is also renowned for some radical "Whips".
