Josh Coppins has announced a new sponsorship agreement with United Telecom, one of Belgium's biggest independent telecommunications companies, for the 2006 season.

New-Zealander Coppins has been living in Balen, Belgium for the last 11 years, while his two motocross vice-world titles and an easygoing attitude have gained him a loyal following in Belgium and across Europe.

"I first noticed United Telecom when they sponsored the Namur motocross GP last year and it seemed like a cool company to get involved with," said Josh. "It's nice to see that they are so passionate about sports and motocross in particular. My deal with United Telecom and their approach to the sport make a perfect fit, so that's another piece that falls into place this season. Last year was excellent for me, but I feel that I can even improve and I can't wait for the GP season to start!"

The 28-year-old is currently preparing for his 2006 title assault after one of the most successful seasons of his career. The likeable Kiwi was runner up in last year's MX1 World Championship behind the legendary Stefan Everts and won the competitive British Championship.

"We are very pleased to have Josh as an ambassador for our company," added Carlo Vandekerkhof, CEO of United Telecom. "Not only because he is one of the best motocross riders in the world, but also because of the human values he represents. Josh is hard working, approachable and he is genuinely a good guy. Because he is so modest people do underestimate Coppins, but United Telecom likes to associate with the underdog and I'm sure he will surprise quite a few people this season!"

Coppins is the latest addition to United Telecom's sports programme that includes three Belgian first division football teams, reigning Belgian handball champion and cup winner Tongeren, FIA GT frontrunner Bert Longin and title sponsorship of the Belgian MX championship.
